GTA VI is currently in development, as Rockstar has revealed on Twitter. Fans of Grand Theft Auto have been hoping for a 6th installment for years. The studio made the best of a declaration on Rockstar Newswire about the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version of Grand Theft Auto V to reassure them that it is in development, anticipate that it will be imaginative, and promise that they will give more details when it is time.
Many of you have been asking about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.
With every new project, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we've previously delivered. We're pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the series is underway.

Although there’s an official confirmation that the game is in production, we still lack any official information regarding the game. No release date, platform, or even a title. Grand Theft Auto 6 might not even be a thing. At the very least, Rockstar is assuring fans that they are fully committed to growing Grand Theft Auto Online and will do so in the future.
Coming Fall 2023?
It’s possible that Grand Theft Auto VI may be launched later this year with a phony “Fall 2023” launch date and then delayed until 2024, according to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, who is well-versed in the video game industry.
Wouldn't be shocked to see Grand Theft Auto VI announced later this year with a fake release date of "fall 2023" that then slips to 2024 https://t.co/PCtS7o6FEe

In reality, a new installment of GTA Online will be available for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 when GTA 5 launches on both platforms on March 15th with major audiovisual upgrades (the PS5 version will be free for the first three months for PS Plus subscribers). There will be a way to carry over your progress from the single-player journey to the multiplayer experience.
