Finding the Navigator’s Helm
The first step is to get the Navigator’s Helm, which is needed to access the Plasma Cutter. This special headgear is dropped by defeating the Navigator Zombie enemy in N’Erud.
Locating the Navigator Zombie
The Navigator Zombie spawns underground near the Extraction Hub landmark. Look for giant pistons slamming the earth and head underneath one. There you’ll find a hole; drop down into the depths.
Eliminating the Navigator Zombie
This undead foe wanders around below and looks like other zombies. Kill it and the Navigator’s Helm will be yours. With this rare item in hand, you can move on to claiming the Plasma Cutter. Be prepared for a tough fight – the Navigator Zombie can take a lot of damage before going down.
Gaining Access to the Crashed Ship
- Now equipped with the Navigator’s Helm, seek out a crashed ship in the N’Erud region, specifically The Eon Vault area. Approach the vessel and you’ll see a locked door protected by a red laser scanner.
- Here’s where the Navigator’s Helm comes in handy. With it equipped, stand in front of the door to trigger a scan. This will verify you have the headgear and unlock the door. The scans can sometimes be glitchy, so you may need to move around a bit until it finally triggers.
- Inside this newly opened room rests the powerful Plasma Cutter. Pick it up to finally add this heavy-hitting weapon to your arsenal. When upgraded, it can melt through even the toughest enemies’ health bars.
Why the Plasma Cutter is So Strong
A few key factors make the Plasma Cutter one of Remnant 2’s best guns:
- It ramps up damage the longer you focus fire on one target.
- The innate Heat Sink mod boosts DPS and reduces heat buildup.
- Despite being mid-range, its damage doesn’t fall off until 30m out.
