The Archon archetype in Remnant 2 is one of the most elusive and powerful classes in the game. Unlocking it requires completing a specific process that many players won’t discover on their own.
How to Unlock Archon Archetype: Gathering the Required Items
To gain access to the Archon archetype, you first need to collect some very specific gear. This includes leveling up the Explorer and Invader archetypes, equipping Realmwalker armor, and gathering various rings, relics, and weapons.
The full list of required items is:
- Explorer (Level 10 with Fortune Hunter skill)
- Invader (Level 5 with Wormhole skill)
- Realmwalker Armor Set
- Void Heart Relic
- Leto’s Amulet
- Amber Moonstone Ring
- Black Cat Band Ring
- Anastasija’s Inspiration Ring
- Zania’s Malice Ring
- Ford’s Scattergun
- Cube Gun
- Labyrinth Staff
Some of these are easily obtained through campaign progression, while others require more obscure steps to acquire. For example, getting the Void Heart relic involves waiting 12 real-time hours after a specific campaign moment.
The Black Cat Band ring only unlocks after dying 15 times quickly. Leto’s Amulet requires performing 100 heavy armor flops in Ward 13. And Ford’s Scattergun is hidden behind a secret door in Yaesha. So gathering all the required items takes patience, thorough exploration, and a bit of luck. But the payoff is worth it.
Finding the Red Glitch Portal
Once you’ve collected all the required items, it’s time to locate the red glitch portal tucked away in the Labyrinth area. Specifically, you need to head to the portal near Fractured Ingress which randomly changes destinations every few seconds. Wait for the portal to show an endless drop into the void, then quickly step through.
After falling for a moment, a magical bridge will catch you and lead you to a platform. Clear out the enemies here, then interact with the red glitch portal on the right side of the platform. With all the required items equipped, you can unlock the red glitch portal.
Exploring the Enigmatic Backrooms
- Stepping through the red glitch portal transports you to the strange Backrooms area. This eerie maze has a two-minute time limit before kicking you out.
- Your goal here is to quickly locate and grab the Strange Box item. It’s tucked away in the far left corner of the Backrooms. The maze layout is random each time, so be ready to improvise your route.
- Once you’ve secured the Strange Box, you can return to Ward 13 and have Wallace convert it into the Hexahedron archetype unlock item. With that in hand, you’ve completed the process and can finally access the powerful Archon class.
Mastering the Archon’s Chaotic Powers
So what does the Archon archetype actually do? It focuses on rapidly generating and empowering your mod powers.
The Archon’s skills include conjuring dome barriers, placing chaotic zones that buff allies, and unleashing lightning tendrils that chain between enemies. It also has perks that enhance your mod damage, regeneration, and more.
Unlocking the class takes work, but the Archon archetype is worth the effort. Its reality-warping abilities can devastate foes and support teammates in exciting ways no other class can match.
