Iconic RPG Fallout’s franchise just got bigger as Prime Video just dropped an exciting new teaser trailer for the soon-to-be-released TV series adaptation. 2023 turned out to be a great year for live-action adaptations of video games like HBO’s The Last of Us TV series and The Super Mario Bros Movie on the big screen and hoping to follow it up in the upcoming year is the highly successful post-apocalyptic game. Let’s do a breakdown of the trailer and find out what we know so far about Fallout’s TV series adaptation.
Breaking down Fallout’s new teaser trailer
The first teaser for Fallout is generously long at 150 seconds and it clearly establishes the dystopian, futuristic world supposedly set 200 years after a nuclear war. We experience the world through Ella Purnell’s Lucy who is a Vault Dweller who steps out of luxury fallout shelters which had kept her safe till then.
The trailer also does a great job at cementing the overall tone and mood of the entire show right from its first promotional release. Particularly, there’s a sense of dark comedy in the conversations and even the action and violence feel gratuitous, somewhat similar to the same studio’s The Boys.
Walter Goggins plays The Ghoul who looks terrifying as a bounty hunter on the surface without a nose. However, as some glimpses reveal, the nuclear apocalypse survivor is hiding his past. ‘I Don’t Want to See Tomorrow’ by Nat King Cole works as an iconic needle drop for the retro sci-fi setting.
Cast, crew and more details about the TV series adaptation
The live-action TV series adaptation of the Fallout video games is developed by the creators of Westworld – Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan. In particular, Nolan is confirmed to be directing the first three episodes of the Prime Video show whose first season drops on April 12, 2024.
Todd Howard hired Jonathan Nolan to develop #Fallout because he loved Interstellar.
“The movies he’s worked on are some of my favorites. And I’d heard that he liked video games, and had an eye for that stuff. I’d said to somebody—and I won’t say who—but I was taking a meeting… pic.twitter.com/XpyCAKNIqB

Aside from Ella Purnell and Walter Goggins, Fallout’s cast includes Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Aaron Moten, Sarita Choudhury, Leslie Uggams, Michael Emerson, Zach Cherry and Moises Arias.
Bethesda Game Studios, the creators of the original Fallout video games, are also part of the TV series’ production as game director Todd Howard will serve as an executive producer alongside Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan themselves.

Furthermore, the show will be set within the same continuity as the Fallout franchise to avoid adapting any of the previous games. Instead, the upcoming Prime Video live-action series will focus on an original story set in the same universe and with the same characters.
