Just in time for the Ranked Battles Season 1, the patch update aims to correct and fix a number of the countless issues in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Aside from the bugs and glitches, there is also an issue in online battles where some Trainers exploit this bug. By taking advantage of the script issue in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, they are able to control the RNG system so the odds are always in their favour.

In addition to this, another highlight of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s patch update 1.1.0 is the audio looping issue during battles with the Elite Four and Top Champion in the Victory Road path.

Alongside the patch notes, Nintendo also included an apology regarding the countless bugs and issues players have encountered since both games’ release. Here is what they had to say about it:

“We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games’ performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously and are working on improvements to the games.”

They did mention that “select bug fixes” are part of the update. However, Nintendo played it safe by not specifying which issues we can expect to be fixed by December 1st.

Fingers crossed that Nintendo and Game Freak will release more updates before the year ends. With the number of issues present in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it’s understandable why some players are frustrated with this.

How do I update my game?

The patch update will release simultaneously across all regions. If you’re a Trainer in the United States, you can install the software update by December 1. As for Trainers in Europe, you can expect the update to be available by December 2.

If this is the first time you’ll be updating a game on your Nintendo Switch, follow the steps below.

Automatic update

The easiest and most convenient way to update your games on the Nintendo Switch is by turning on the Auto-Update feature.

  • Go to “System Settings” on your Nintendo Switch and look for “System”
  • Check if the “Auto-Update Software” is turned on
  • After this, your games will automatically update every time a patch like this is released

Manual update

On the other hand, you can also opt to update your games manually if you want to keep track of how much memory your games are taking up.

  • Make sure the “Auto-Update Software” feature is turned off
  • Then, go to your desired game and hover over it
  • Press the + button and you will have the option to see whether updates are available
  • If an update is available, just follow the on-screen prompts and your game will be up to date in no time
