Percy Jackson TV Series in the Works, Leading Actor Revealed

Breaking: There will be a reboot for a live-action adaptation of Rick Riordan’s popular epic novel series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Yes, you’ve read that right! Disney+ will be making a new tv series based on the beloved novel of the same name.

  • We all remember the movie inspired by the books back in 2010. It was a movie that featured young stars like Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario alongside legendary actors such as Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan, and Sean Bean.
  • Though it was fairly entertaining, it failed to capture the hearts of Percy Jackson fans. Thus, leading to an unsuccessful franchise that only produced two movies (Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters).

But now, the Greek Gods have finally found their champion!

Disney will be casting Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson. After his successful debut in a Netflix Sci-Fiction film – “The Adam Project” – his career is about to blow off with a new project. Scobell, 13,  is set to portray the 12-year-old titular character in the series. Unlike the show’s predecessor, they promised that they will follow the books.

Percy Jackson is a Demigod, who does not know it yet at first, but eventually finds out that he has literally the blood of one of the Gods, Poseidon. In a modern world filled with magic, mystery, monsters, Gods, and Goddesses, Percy will begin his adventure as he ventures his roots through a summer camp called CAMP HALFBLOOD. There he will meet others who are just like him, sons or daughters of the Greek Gods.

Disney+ is proud to announce that they will be working alongside the books’ author, Rick Riordan. This could be similar to what Warner Bros did with Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling.

Aside from the announcement of the lead actor, there aren’t a lot of details shared yet with the public. Production is set to begin this summer (2022) and will take place in Vancouver, Canada.
