Based on the bestselling young-adult fantasy book series by Rick Riordan, the teaser for the show introduces us to an all-new young and diverse cast. Let’s break down the teaser trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians and find out more details, including the show’s premise, cast, crew, and release date.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Trailer Breakdown

As expected, the 93-second teaser opens in the life of the titular character Percy Jackson, played by Walker Scobell. Young Percy narrates how he is a troubled kid who faces academic challenges and bullies at school.

His best friend Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) is there by his side, but Percy soon discovers that he is a satyr – a mythical half-man, half-goat creature. Soon, the young hero finds out that he is a demigod himself.

Together, they go to Camp Half-Blood, a Greek training facility where young demigods hone their skills and seek refuge from mythological creatures. This is where he begins to understand his newfound powers and meets Annabeth Chase, played by Leah Jeffries.

The teaser offers a glimpse at the late Lance Reddick as Zeus, the King of the Gods. We also get a glimpse of Percy saving his mother from a Minotaur. Overall, this first look at the Olympian world effectively teases the adventures of Percy, Grover, and Annabeth.

What is the upcoming show about?

The story revolves around the 12-year-old modern demigod as he just comes to terms with his newfound divine abilities. His life takes a serious turn when Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.

Rick Riordan’s book blends ancient Greek mythology with relatable coming-of-age ideas in a fresh, contemporary setting. The upcoming Disney+ show will aim to capture this essence to attract a large young audience.

The book series consists of five novels, two of which have been adapted into movies in 2010 and 2013. The films featured Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson and Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase.
