Penthouse actress Kim So-Yeon recalled being harassed by the fans of a first-generation K-pop idol group during her debut days. On May 3, the K-drama star appeared on tvN’s You Quiz On The Block and discussed her extensive career beginning in 1996.
Recalling her debut days, she admitted that she suffered from ‘celebrity disease‘ and things were different overall. She also shared about her marriage with actor Lee Sang-Woo. Furthermore, So-Yeon highlighted a troublesome period of her life when she was subjected to harassment from the fans of a first-generation idol group.
Kim So-Yeon faced harassment from first-generation K-pop idol fans after performing a skit

While talking with MC Yoo Jae-Suk and Jo Se-Ho, veteran actress Kim So-Yeon recalled being traumatized and harassed after appearing on a show with a first-gen K-pop idol group. She shared that she performed a skit with a member of the K-pop idol group, and one of the scenes required the K-pop idol to lift her on his back, which resulted in full-fledged fan outrage upon broadcast.

- So-Yeon shared that some of the fans went to the extent of tracking her location and residential address. They used to leave vulgar messages on the complex’s shared areas, such as the elevator and playground.
- Due to this, she has sad memories of her mother going out with a scrub to erase the messages. “My mother had to wipe off all the graffiti containing various profanities [targeted to me],” Kim So-Yeon said.

The Happy Home star further shared that one of the incidents that largely impacted her was during the promotion of her debut film Change. The actress, as the lead of the movie, was going to perform the OST of the film on stage with singer Jo Jang-Hyuk at a music show. However, her scheduled appearance overlapped with the idol group’s showcase.

- The audience primarily consisted of the first-generation idol group‘s fans, who reacted very harshly to her performance. Kim So-Yeon shared that the audience went silent when she first stepped upon the stage. There weren’t any sounds, but later people began to whisper until they went in an uproar of “Get lost.”
- Further, Kim So-Yeon confessed that, at that time, she handled the matter professionally. However, after years, she looks back on the audience’s boycott of her performance and realizes that it was upsetting to her.
- The You Quiz On The Block’s host, Yoo Jae-Suk, responded to Kim So-Yeon’s confession that the fans must have regretted their actions after growing up.
