The posts in recent days, on Twitter and Telegram, share the documents of the outline of Ukraine’s military strength, conflict status, casualties, and HIMARS rocket system burn rate. It is reported that some of them carried dates from Feb 23 to March 1.

According to a researcher at Bellingcat, the online investigative group, reveals that the documents originated from 4chan image board in March.
Ukraine rejects the claim by mocking the Russian special services
Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for Ukraine’s military intelligence directorate, said on Ukrainian TV:
“It is very important to remember that in recent decades, the Russian special services’ most successful operations have been taking place in Photoshop,”
“From a preliminary analysis of these materials, we see false, distorted figures on losses on both sides, with part of the information collected from open sources.”
Separately, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy‘s office discusses info leak prevention in meeting with senior military staff. And noted that: “the participants of the meeting focused on measures to prevent the leakage of information regarding the plans of the defense forces of Ukraine.”
U.S. officials remain quiet: What if the leaked documents were really true?
- Initially, if the authenticity of the published documents is confirmed to any extent, the unauthorized disclosure of classified data is deeply concerning.
- It also raises inquiries about the potential existence of other undisclosed information pertaining to the Ukraine war. U.S. officials on Friday then gave no clarity about the origin, authenticity, and initial online posting of the documents related to potential offensives in Ukraine.
The New York Times initially broke the news on the documents. Later on Friday, they reported that additional documents on Ukraine, China, the Middle East, and other sensitive national security matters had surfaced on social media.
A U.S. official noted that the initial documents bear similarities to daily data from the Joint Staff, though there are discrepancies in certain numbers.
