PBA: Which team best fits Kyt Jimenez

It’s almost certain that the rising star from the Sarangani Marlins, Kyt Jimenez, will be in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) soon. The 25-year-old point guard has already shown great potential and huge upside in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). What’s even more interesting is that Kyt has already made a name for himself by creating records and making a case as a future MVP of the league.

Previously, Kyt has admitted to being open to joining PBA and since he is certainly eligible, that could come to reality in no time. To address the elephant in the room, let’s find out which PBA team best fits Kyt Jimenez’s basketball prowess. But first, let’s take a look at Kyt’s profile and which PBA players he resembles.

Player Profile

NAME Krystoffe “Kyt” Jimenez
AGE 25 years old
HEIGHT 5 feet and 11 inches
POSITION GUARD (PG/SG)
CURRENT TEAM SARANGANI MARLINS (MPBL)
PLAYSTYLE Shot creator, scorer, slasher

PBA Player Comparison

Kyt is known to idolize a flashy point guard in the PBA – Terrence Romeo.

So, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he molded his game after Romeo’s style of play. Although they’re very similar, Kyt is more athletic. However, during Terrence Romeo’s prime, he was extremely unguardable due to his amazing crossovers and acrobatic finishing ability. Regardless of the comparison, Romeo is already a legend in PBA so Kyt is going to prove to everyone that he can fill the shoe.

PBA Teams Fit for Kyt Jimenez

TNT Tropang Giga

The Jayson Castro era is almost ending in Talk ‘N Text and someone needs to take on the mantle. Even after falling short in the last Filipino Cup Finals against the San Miguel Beermen, TNT is still a team to beat. Kyt may not be on the same level as The Blur, but he can most certainly be a good point guard for the team. With his excellent shooting and playmaking, he could be a great pair with Mikey Williams.

Not only that, his playstyle could fair well with coach Chot Reyes’ offensive scheme. Overall, if he lands on TNT, Kyt can develop into an amazing player while playing with one of the best point guards in Asia and one of the best coaches of Philippine Basketball.

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters

After many years, coach Yeng Guiao finally reunites with his former team, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. It’s been tough for Rain or Shine after their last championship back in 2016. In their current roster for 2022-2023, there is no established point guard for the team yet thus the need for a true point guard is a must.

Not taking anything away from the likes of Rey Nambatac and Gian Mamuyac, RoS needs a guy who can create his own shots while still making plays for his team, something that Kyt can surely offer.

Northport Batang Pier

Northport already has guys on the perimeter like Roi Sumang and the electrifying Robert Bolick. However, their chances at a championship could get a notch higher if Bolick gets a nice backup like Kyt Jimenez.

They have a similar game although Bolick has transitioned into a pass-first guard so far.

Terrafirma Dyip

In this season’s Commissioner’s cup, The Terrafirma Dyip has been on the shorter end of the stick as they continue to lose, 0-7. By the looks of it, this team has one of the oldest rosters in the league. Moreover, Alex Cabagnot is already very old to be carrying a team like the Terrafirma Dyip as the main ball handler.

Kyt joining Dyip may not enhance their roster but at least he will get the playing time and development he needs to become better. Additionally, Kyt could be the starting point guard and with his ability to score the basket, the offense may even run through him.
