Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 takes the third place, but Oppenheimer is less than $80 million away from toppling it. The second and first places belong to Barbie and The Super Mario Bros Movie, respectively, and they are tough to beat.
The top two are in a race between themselves as the Mattel movie is all set to overtake the Nintendo movie to reach $1.4 billion and become the highest-grossing movie of the year.

Interestingly, Oppenheimer also became the fourth highest-grossing film in Christopher Nolan’s career. Only The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Inception have earned more than Oppenheimer.
According to IMDb’s Box Office Mojo, Oppenheimer’s $777 million box office earnings come from $300 million domestically (US) and $477 million internationally. The film is yet to be released in China, which will significantly boost its collections.

Oppenheimer has been an international favorite, especially in countries like the United Kingdom, France, Germany, India, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia. Notably, the film’s IMAX screenings alone have generated over $150 million.

Universal Pictures will begin streaming the movie online from late October or early November. As of now, Peacock seems to be the most likely streaming home for Oppenheimer.
