While Askeladd is already dead, and can never be in a battle with Snake, it is seen that Thorfinn was able to compare Snake’s strengths in their little battle.
Snake is more of a nimble fighter and can move in a manner, whereas Askeladd was more of an aggressive and brutish fighter. He often combined his strength with his wits.

Season 2 will heavily focus on Thorfinn and Einar’s psyches and those who have read the manga will know that the Farmland Arc changes the game for Thorfinn as a character.
The thorough examination of Thorfinn’s mindset, his introspection on past choices, and the deconstruction of intense emotions such as anger, and hatred. The desire for revenge are elements that have the potential to elevate the series into a masterpiece.
