One piece has been going on for years and we’re at the 26th Anniversary mark now. Mad respect for Eichiro Oda for consistently giving us something to gush over. It has been a rollercoaster ride with all the emotions we were able to feel. There was a time when One Piece was considered funny, we’re way past those days.
As a celebration of One Piece 26th anniversary, here are the top moments in the series that made us cry.
One Piece 26th Anniversary: Here are the top moments in the series that made us cry
The first death in the series

A list of moments that made us cry isn’t complete without this one. Oda gave us hope only to make things more painful. Ace was saved and everyone could feel the relief. But then he died in the most heart-wrenching way possible. The tears started to show up when we see Luffy tapping out and completely losing it.
Daddan’s reaction to Ace’s death

Ace’s death was one of the saddest events in One Piece. We are aware of the emotions Garp went through. He had to be physically held down. If losing his grandson right in front of his eyes and witnessing the ordeal Luffy went through wasn’t enough, we had him break the news to Daddan as well.
Daddan beat up Garp and you can’t even hate her for it. Both of them were going through severe emotions. Their helplessness was more than enough to make us cry.
Merry’s Loss

Crying to a ship’s death isn’t something we do every day. Merry’s loss brought out the emotions in us, we didn’t even know existed. It would not be an understatement to say that we were the same as Nami when Merry was set on fire. And you know things are getting bad when the legendary sniper Sogeking is moved to tears.
“Taskete Luffy” in Arlong Park

Nani’s helplessness in Arlong Park surfaced at the moment when she started to stab her arm with a knife. Her tears and the desperation she felt were so evident. This was one of the earliest moments in the series that warned us about what was coming up our way.
Sabaody, the entire arc

Oda has us all at the edge of our seats with Sabaody. When we thought things can’t get worse, they kept getting worse. The Strawhats had never been closer to death with Kizaru hunting them down. The separation was the moment when the fans lost it. It was an unexpected and unwelcome moment. Oh and a tear-jerker for sure.
Luffy starves himself to bring Sanji back

The Whole Cake Island arc was one of the lowest moments Luffy has experienced throughout the series. He starved himself to bring Sanji back. The switch between kindness, cruelty, and desperation was more than enough to make a lot of us ugly cry.
Yasuie’s death in Wano

The Smile fruit was cruel but the moment we all realised it, was Yasuie’s death. At that moment everyone was laughing with tears streaming down their eyes. That was cruelty at its peak.
Law’s flashback

Everything about Law’s flashback was sad until he met Corazon. The bond the two of them shared was the only sweet thing about Dressrosa. The sweetness didn’t last at all though. The scene where Corazon uses his Devil Fruit to muffle Law’s sobbing and screaming as he gets killed by Doffy; need I say more?
Conclusion
In moments such as the ones mentioned here, Oda was merciless. All of that is done and dusted with, but for how long? When will he be coming for us again? We never know. But what we know is that we have One Piece’s 26th Anniversary to celebrate. Kampai to the 26th anniversary and many more to come!
