NBA 2023-2024: Is Tyrese Maxey going to be an All-Star this season?

Is Tyrese Maxey going to be an All-Star this season

Oh my! Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey seems to be having a breakout season in 2023-2024. The 2020 21st overall pick turned out to be the star Philly needed alongside Joel Embiid. After consecutive amazing performances, is it high time to call Tyrese Maxey an All-Star in 2024?

The 23-year-old guard had a historic night on Sunday after giving the Indiana Pacers a 50-piece outburst. The former Kentucky standout becomes the youngest Sixer since Allen Iverson to record a 50-point game. Along with that, he also finished with 5 assists, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks. The 2023 MVP, Joel Embiid, also had a fancy night with 37 points, 7 assists, and 13 rebounds to secure the win over Indiana.

Tyrese Maxey: All-Star or not?

As early as now, we’re already calling it. Tyrese Maxey will be an All-Star in just his fourth season. If he continues the way he plays, there’s no denying he’ll get a nod in the game featuring the best of the best in the NBA. But, he either has one of the better guards in the East or at least beats them in votes. Some of the names in the Eastern Conference that are likely to be All-Stars again this season are:

  • Damian Lillard
  • Donovan Mitchell
  • Jaylen Brown
  • Tyrese Haliburton

Cavaliers’ superstar Donovan Mitchell is obviously a starter in the East, while Indiana Pacers rising star Tyrese Haliburton might get to start as well (for the first time in his career). On the other hand, Lillard and Brown are considered to be a lock as All-Star reserves.

Meanwhile, there are still other guards who have shown that they are capable of being selected for the All-Star game. But, given how exceptional Maxey is playing right now, he’s already way better than these guys.

  • Cam Thomas
  • LaMelo Ball
  • Jalen Brunson
  • Trae Young
  • Tyler Herro
  • DeMar DeRozan
  • Zach LaVine
  • Mikal Bridges
  • Dejounte Murray
  • Jrue Holiday

The Most Improved Player award is likely going to go to Tyrese Maxey

After James Harden’s departure, it was evident that the Sixers should find someone to pair with Joel Embiid. Thankfully for them, they don’t have to look any further.

Tyrese Maxey, the 4-year veteran out of Kentucky, suddenly becomes the second go-to guy in Philadelphia.
It’s also a great possibility that Maxey will be named an All-Star in 2024, given that he’s putting on an absolutely amazing display of talent every time he holds the ball. Moreover, he is also the clear frontrunner for the 2023-2024 Most Improved Player of the Year award. Did the Sixers win the James Harden trade? Definitely.
