Nodwin Gaming, the pre-eminent esports entity of our country, announced a dedicated championship solely for the gamers of Northeast India. After almost 10 months since its announcement, the registrations have finally begun.

Back in January, current Nodwin Gaming Business Development Executive Anup Dustakar made the public announcement during Indian Gaming Show Bangalore, calling it his passion project. Anup said, “starting from the months of February and March, we’ll start seeing more and more qualifiers that are organised in these particular states and these cities.”
In his public presentation, he also mentioned that we’ll see the first qualifier being held in Shillong. But nothing went as planned and the events weren’t surprising as many speculated such mishaps beforehand.
Due to uncertain and unmentioned reasons, the project was put on hold, with no news or notice being shared with the community. During the initial months, Anup met with a severe accident, which might have been one of the prominent causes of the event’s delay.
The Northeast Esports Championship was initially announced to feature FIFA 18, Clash Royale and Dota 2 as its main disciplines denying the inclusion of CS:GO, one of the widely popular titles in the region. Players started questioning, discussing and reaching out to Nodwin representatives, requesting them to include CS:GO.
Soon after, I created an unofficial Facebook page for Northeast Esports Championship and made a post appealing the audience to “like” the post if they wanted CS:GO to be included. The page barely had 200 likes, but every follower voted.
This led to some misunderstandings and I was asked to either delete the page or give the admin rights to Nodwin Gaming. I did as they asked me to. Since then, we didn’t hear anything about the project, until recently, when Sagar Vyas re-announced it. This time around, he’s leading it.
Northeast Esports Championship is finally happening. Here’s everything you need to know about it –
