Dallas is now in shambles a devastating news shook the league. It all seemed like a perfect start for the Cowboys after getting their first two wins in the 2023 season. They’ve been locking down their opponents in their last two games by only allowing 10 points in total against two New York teams (the Giants and the Jets) while also getting a total of 70 points. However, the Cowboys’ defensive lineup would have to work without star cornerback, Trevon Diggs. The NFL and various sources have revealed that Diggs tore his anterior cruciate ligament (left knee) and it’s not looking good, both for him and Dallas.
Dallas Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs is expected to be out for the rest of the season
After news broke out about Trevon Diggs’ torn ACL, his teammates, coaches, the organization, and the fans were devastated. After getting an MRI, the NFL revealed that Diggs is indeed missing the whole 2023 season.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy told ESPN that Diggs’ injury is an extreme blow to the team. However, he said that they are still optimistic and this could be a chance for other players to step up.
“Obviously you feel sick [for] him,” McCarthy told ESPN on Friday. “It’s definitely a punch to the gut for our football team, but this is an opportunity for our defensive depth to stand up and continue to move forward.”
How did Trevon Diggs tear his ACL?
According to sources, Trevon Diggs tore his ACL during a one-on-one practice last Thursday. Diggs had just turned 25 on Wednesday. After the drill, he was reportedly spotted with crutches and immediately underwent an MRI. Despite the unfortunate news, Trevon Diggs gave thanks to everyone who supported him. The star cornerback believes he will come back stronger next season.
Thank you for all the prayers and I appreciate everyone for checking on me!
This is just God’s Plan. I will be back and better!

Who’s going to replace Trevon Diggs?
The Cowboys are hoping for another Super Bowl title that has eluded them for almost three decades. Right now, they may have the best defensive duo in the league with Trevon Diggs and the Defensive Player of the Year favorite, Micah Parsons. However, with the current situation, there should be some slight chances. The concern here now is who’s going to wear Diggs’ mantle and man his post. Well, the Cowboys have great depth and the perfect choice should be the sophomore cornerback DaRon Bland.

Diggs was a phenomenal CB who already has a total of 18 interceptions, once led the NFL in total interceptions in a season by preventing 11 passes in 2021. This feat allowed him to be named to the Pro Bowl and selected for the First Team All-Pro in the same year. His finesse may not be replicated with any other available Cowboys cornerback, but the young Bland will definitely offset Diggs’ absence. DaRon Bland is just as exceptional as Trevon with how amazing he performed in his rookie year. Last season, Bland had five interceptions and was a great replacement for Jourdan Lewis. It’s going to be an exciting setup to see DaRon Bland pair up with veteran cornerback and 2019 DPOY Stephon Gilmore. That being said, Dallas shouldn’t be much worried despite Diggs’ season-ending injury.
Meanwhile, Cowboys Micah lineback Parsons reacts to ex-Philadelphia Eagle Bart Scott’s jokes on Diggs’ injury
During a segment on Stephen A. Smith’s First Take, retired football player Bart Scott, who once played for the Philadelphia Eagles, had a surprising comment on Trevon Diggs’ injuries. Scott, who is now an NFL analyst, quoted a statement from Stephen A. saying “Just wait, something bad always happens” with a grin on his face. However, the First Take host made it clear that this isn’t the right time to say those words since an athlete is facing some setbacks due to a season-ending injury.
Well, it did not come as a surprise that NFL fans bonded together to throw shade at Bart Scott. Some are even calling for ESPN to fire Scott as an analyst. Shortly after being bombarded with harsh comments, Scott defended himself on Twitter. Meanwhile, Trevon Diggs’ teammate and friend Micah Parsons didn’t take this lightly and reacted the same way as the others did. It’s worth noting that the Cowboys and Eagles have been intra-division rivals for more than 60 years.
Im not arguing with a grown ass man on Twitter ! You a lame, keep my brother name out your mouth ! Get a new segment cause the one you had today was trash!! https://t.co/NmIKgHrrl5
