New Diablo Trademark Suggests A Netflix Series Might Be On Its Way

Blizzard Entertainment on 8th March registered a “goods and service” trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, that says “Downloadable films and movies featuring narratives based on a video game and provided via a video-on-demand service”.

The Diablo trademark is registered under the US PTO’s Trademark Class 41, which includes “services having the basic aim of the entertainment, amusement or recreation of people”. This trademark seems to have some connection with Hellboy Series Screenwriter Andrew Cosby’s tweet from 19th September 2018, where he wrote –

I guess I can confirm I am indeed in final talks to write and show-run the new DIABLO animated series for Activision and Netflix. It’s very exciting and I hope to the High Heavens it all works out.

The tweet has since been deleted and no further information regarding the deal was discussed in public. However, on 14th March 2019, Cosby tweeted –

It’s killing me that I can’t talk openly about my new super secret project, because my new super secret project is just so frikkin’ cool! Soon… very soon…

We’re speculating Cosby’s “super secret project” is none other than the Netflix adaptation he suggested in September 2018.

Although we don’t have any concrete proof of the relation, we’ve reached out to Blizzard to comment on the situation. We’ve also reached out to Andrew Cosby for a comment.
