The competition in the NBA’s Eastern Conference hasn’t been this close in many years. With the top six teams in the East continuously fighting for the top spot. Check out the Eastern Conference’s current standings (As of February 28, 2022)
1. MIAMI HEAT (40-21, 0 Games Behind)
The Miami Heat has been a consistent threat on both ends of the floor. A team of ragtag players who aren’t afraid to face the strongest teams in the league.

It also helps that they have talented players on their roster such as Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, and Tyler Herro. If you watch their games, you can see that the team is well orchestrated and has great chemistry on and off the court.
2. CHICAGO BULLS (39-22, 1 Game Behind)
Chi-Town probably has the best backcourt duo in the league today. Led by a superstar guard in Zack LaVine and an MVP candidate, DeMar DeRozan plus a very skilled big man, Nikola Vucevic.

This team is very scary on the offensive end, but their small ball is a liability on the defensive end.
Overall, the Bulls are stacked with great talent (LaVine, DeRozan, Vucevic, Ball, Caruso, Williams, and more) and they could actually have a shot at winning it all.
3. PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (37-23, 2.5 Games Behind)
Though it’s still early to say, some fans already consider the James Harden and Joel Embiid duo to be the best ones in the league.

They’ve only played two games together since the trade but the duo already showed great promise. In their first game, they combined for 61 huge points. On their second outing together, the two contributed a total of whopping 66 points.
If this continues, the sixers are already looking mighty tough. With these two superstars and a deep bench, they could destroy any team that gets in its way towards a championship.
4. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS (36-24, 3.5 Games Behind)
The Cavs have probably the youngest talented core in the East. A team consisting of multiple all-stars (Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen) and notable young athletes (Caris LeVert, Collin Sexton, Isaac Okoro, and Evan Mobley).

The team has never been this good since LeBron left in 2018. The Cavaliers has a very high ceiling and these young guys are definitely going places.
5. MILWAUKEE BUCKS (36-25, 4 Games Behind)
The reigning NBA champs are still very effective even though they’re on the 5th seed. Spearheaded by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, this team is still a tough opponent to face night-in and night-out.

Giannis is playing again at a high level and is once again an MVP favorite this season. Although they aren’t as effective as last season, the Bucks are still one of the Championship favorites as of late.
6. Boston Celtics (36-27, 5 Games Behind)
The Celtics have struggled earlier this season but surprisingly have found a way back to their rhythm.

Jayson Tatum is no doubt a superstar in this league. Though they’re one hell of a team, the Celtics still lack firepower to match stronger teams in the East, more so teams in the West (Warriors, Grizzlies, Suns, etc).
