After beating the New York Knicks, the Miami Heat are now 3 games away from reaching the Eastern Conference Finals once more. But, their ultimate superstar, Jimmy Butler, appeared to have rolled his ankle in game 1, though he managed to stay until the game ended. In that case, Heat fans are wondering – Is Jimmy Butler still out for game 2 against the Knicks? Check out the latest Jimmy Butler injury report here.

After being attended by his team’s medical staff, Butler stood up and limped towards the free throw line. Despite obviously being in pain, Jimmy Butler stayed on the court and left until they secured the win against the Knicks, 108-101.
Jimmy Butler’s injury updates: Will he be sidelined in game 2?
Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra sounded off on Jimmy Butler’s recent injury. According to him, they do not know how long Jimmy needs to recover from a sprained ankle. Further, he specified that they also couldn’t tell yet as of now. Whether Jimmy could return for game 2 or not, the team is still very hopeful and optimistic.
“No idea,” he said. “You just don’t know with ankle sprains. I don’t even know if we’ll know more by tomorrow [Monday]. We’ll just have to see. It’ll be a waiting game. But he did not want to come out of the game, so we left him in there.”

Dr. Evan Jeffries, a doctor of physical therapy and also an NBA analyst, provided some insights on Butler’s current situation. According to Jeffries, there are two grades of an ankle injury.
- Grade 1 would require at least 7 to 10 days to heal.
- Grade 2 is more severe, and requires 2-6 weeks of recovery.
Looking at the video, it seems that Jimmy Butler only suffered a minor injury, but that could mean he will probably be sitting out of game 2. The final result will come out tomorrow.
Will be dependent on severity. Typical healing time is as follows
Grade I: 7-10 days
Grade II: 2-6 weeksThat’s actual healing time but doesn’t account for playoffs timeline
—Will more than likely need treatment around the clock and bracing to play

If Jimmy Butler will be out in game 2, which Miami Heat player needs to step up?
Jimmy Butler, dubbed Playoff Jimmy, has been going nuts in the playoffs. From keeping their season alive and managing to survive Play-In to eventually beating the number 1 seed Milwaukee Bucks in the first round, Butler and the Miami Heat are doing the impossible. He is probably the best player in the postseason and there’s no denying his basketball abilities.

Now that his health is questionable, other players must step up their game. Guys like Bam Adebayo, Kyle Lowry, Gabe Vincent, and Max Strus need to make more effort. In game 1, we saw Kyle Lowry command the offense after Butler went down with an injury. Since Tyler Herro and Victor Oladipo have also been injured, we won’t be counting on these guys now.
If not for Jimmy Butler, this team’s season could have ended. But, they’re alive and they are 1-0 against the New York Knicks. It’s a great time for the Miami Heat since the Knicks are a bit undermanned, especially since All-Star Julius Randle is also injured.
