February 17, 2022 – Chris Paul fractured his right thumb during a game against the Houston Rockets.
After passing the ball to DeAndre Ayton, CP3’s right thumb collided with Jae’Sean Tate’s arms, which was unintentional. After the game, Paul was diagnosed with an avulsion fracture to his right thumb. The Suns’ medical team ruled CP3 out in 6-8 weeks. He will be further re-evaluated after that period. Take note that the playoffs will begin shortly after 7 weeks.
The Phoenix Suns are the number one team in the west and are also the best team in the league today. Standing at a record 48-10 after the All-Star break.
“It’s always going to be frustrations with injuries,” – Paul said in an interview before the All-Star game. “I’ve had four hand surgeries in my career. My hand surgery is part of my family now, but things could be a lot worse. I’m still blessed, grateful we’re 48-10 and if I do miss some time, I know the guys will hold it down.”
The future hall of fame point guard, or should we say “Point God” is a vital piece in this team’s success and is obviously the team’s leader.

With a young talented core of Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton, and Mikal Bridges, the team is looking for another great playoff run. They failed to capture the chip last season, but they are looking stronger and better than before.
There are only two possibilities for the future of this team for this season:
One, if the Suns keep their position as the first seed, they will be a lock for the playoffs. They’re a great team, but they’re relatively better when Chris Paul is on the court. Without him in the playoffs, their dreams for a championship might be thrown outside the window.
Two, this may be a good opportunity for Phoenix. If ever they secure a playoff spot, CP3 can rest for six to eight weeks, and come back fully healthy in the playoffs. A great advantage, if you ask me. That is if he fully recovers.

Although he was already ruled out for the remaining of the season, Paul still played for the All-Star game for 2 minutes. Paul is already 37 years old but is still looking great out in the court. His presence is definitely an X-factor for the Suns.
