Is Andre Iguodala a Hall of Famer?
Before we answer that question, let’s take a look back at memory lane. After almost two decades in the NBA, Iguodala is finally calling it a career. His best statistical years were probably during his stint with the team that drafted him, the Philadelphia 76ers. In 8 seasons, Iggy averaged 15.2 PPG and 5.9 RPG. In that span, the 2004 9th overall pick was selected in the All-Defensive and All-Star teams once. He had a great run in Philly and was looking like he was going to break out as a legitimate superstar.
Fast forward to 2013 when Iguodala signed with the Golden State Warriors. Declining his former team’s (Denver Nuggets) 5-year contract eventually benefited him in the long run. Since then, Iguodala has been part of the Warriors dynasty alongside Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. This contending squad made 4 championships in 7 years.

According to basketball-reference.com, the 38-year-old star’s chances of being named in the HoF is roughly 12.69%. However, he’s got a higher chance compared to 2011 MVP Derrick Rose and 5-time All-Star center Al Horford. Sadly, with such a very low probability, Iggy is highly unlikely going to be a Hall of Famer. Even though he won the 2015 Finals MVP after heavily guarding LeBron James throughout that series, it still isn’t enough for him to book a ticket to that elite class.
Moreover, Iguodala himself has said that it’s impossible for him to be inducted into the HoF. There have been two players who won the Finals MVP trophy and weren’t even considered Hall of Famers. Those guys are namely Chauncey Billups and Cedric Maxwell. Despite the fact that Andre Iguodala will probably not be in the HoF, he will go down as one of the best players in NBA history. The former University of Arizona standout has made a name for himself as one of the smartest players and greatest defenders the league has seen.
