Ever since the premiere of Mob Psycho 100 III, the fandom has seen Studio Bones animating it as amazingly as it ought to. Mob Psycho 100 III Episode 2 made it loudly clear that there’s more to being amazing than just powers. This primarily comes through the remark of Arataka Reigen in Mob Psycho 100 III to the solo yokai hunter who notes Serizawa and Mob’s eccentric powers.
Reigen mentions that one is tempted to feel envious and jealous of the psychic talents. But he remarks that for the duo, their powers are the least special thing about their lives.

Reigen is an attractive pull in Mob Psycho 100 III
Now the audience knows that Reigen has no psychic abilities. The best he can do is maybe see ghosts every now and then. Yet the ridiculousness and still the strongest point of the story is how Reigen always steals the show. Something about an apparently powerless character booming with slithering optimism gets to you.
- The green card for the most amazingly done anime characters is their show of humor and sarcasm.
- It doesn’t deviate from reality if you think much about it. We all know that one fella in the group who’s always doing humor but it is evidently also the one suffering.
- He doesn’t really open up, but on the few occasions he does, you are compelled to be moved by his charisma.
Reigen Arataka is one such phenomena.
Mob follows Reigen knowing full well his master has no strong powers
It is in certain moments where Reigen opens up his emotional and true side, that you actually start relating with him. This is especially shadowed in Season 2 when Reigen is noticed by Mob to not have any powers.
Despite this, it is revealed that although Shigeo always knew that Reigen was a con artist, this never made the hero respect him less. Reigen gave Mob strength when he needed it the most, as such Reigen is still an amazing mentor to Mob. Reigen’s normal reaction to this was the same as the fans’- that of sheer overwhelming surprise.

Mob helps Reigen maintain his master psychic persona in public
Reigen thought he had Mob under his guise. The master is by no means evil and at his heart, he has always wanted the best for Shigeo ‘Mob’ Kageyama. But he is also a crafty wit who would make do if he can with whatever he gets.
In Mob Psycho 100 III Episode 2 one of the four generals of the Yokai King is about to attack a helpless Reigen Arataka and Yokai hunter. Mob immediately sees the threat flinches his hand and destroys the generals with a swing of his hand. He does this knowing fully well that Reigen cannot defend himself, despite his claim of being a master psychic.

Reigen Arataka is a relatable character whose priority is his business
- In Mob Psycho 100 III, The Yokai Hunter relentlessly goes on about how he once soloed a yokai (Japanese demon) for about three days and three days. Bantering on and on about the dangers of the hundred demon parade and the revival of the yokai king. Annoyed, Reigen bursts out and tells the Yokai Hunter to let the man conduct his business.
- At this the Youkai hunter is more than happy to provide him compensation, handing out a million yen. Reigen first considers it a paper card which any normal person would. Yet upon the realization that his new client is rich as fu*k, the crafty businessman accepts his request happily.
He even starts preaching about how the elimination of the hundred demons will end an era of sadness while not believing a single word he himself spat.

Reigen proves in Mob Psycho 100 III that it isn’t your psychic powers that make you strong
Reigen Arataka is notably the most relatably real character. Not that the other characters are lacking in any sense. Mob Psycho 100 introduces a world full of espers/psychics, supernatural ghosts, demons, and evil spirits.
Such a world is distant from reality and yet hits close to home because of the characters it portrays. Among the rising abnormalities, Reigen Arataka strikes as the greedy mofo who’s just concerned for his business. Any normal adult wanting to make money would reprise a similar feat.
He allows his subordinates to choose their own path in life
- Yet all his business-oriented mindset does not stop him from caring about those closest to him. When Serizawa asks him if he could be given leave after 4:00 Pm so he could attend night classes, recontinuing his education, the bossman agrees.
- In Mob Psycho 100 III Episode 1 ending, Reigen willingly tells Mob to choose his career as he feels fit. Mob is about the only authentic means other than Serizawa who can help Reigen survive.
Mob and Serizawa are the building blocks of his business without whom he is just a simple con man. Yet despite this Reigen isn’t shallow enough to let his selfishness take over his care for his juniors. What makes Reigen powerful is his compassion and the willingness to overcome his own greed for the ones he truly cares about.
