Ryan Zimmerman, famously known as Mr. National is now retiring from MBL after 17 years.
He has been part of the Washington Nationals since 2005. Ryan was a stud straight from the University of Virginia. Drafted 4th overall, Ryan was also the first-ever draft pick by the franchise since it was only founded in 2005, the year when they moved from Montreal to Washington. Not only he was the face of the franchise, he “became the franchise”. Ryan was even given the precious moniker of Mr. National. The namesake speaks for the franchise itself already.

Zimmerman and the team grew and flourished together in Major League Baseball (MLB). It’s quite saddening that a player who is so loved by an organization is now calling it a career.
Ryan Zimmerman played in 16 seasons and 1799 ball games.
He played the first baseman during his earlier years with Washington, but soon had surgery for his injured shoulder which made him move to the third baseman. During his rookie year, he came close to winning the Rookie of the Year. He only came second, losing to Hanley Ramirez.
Ryan was selected as an All-Star back in 2009, as well as being awarded his first and only Gold Glove. Given to him because of his defensive capabilities as a defensive third baseman. He also experienced his first World Series Championship at the latter part of his career, back in 2019.

He wasn’t always considered the best in the league, but he was great. Loved by the Washington fans, but despised by the Phillies. Ryan killed the Phillies in just about every at-bat he had against that team. He was hated in Philadelphia due to his talents, but he will be remembered as one of the greatest competitors the Phillies ever had.

Mr. National last played in an official game on October 3, 2021, against the Boston Red Sox.
Zimmerman is 37 years old, and probably had a great career behind him that will forever be Washington Nationals’ legacy, as well as his. He will officially retire on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. A true legend. A once-in-life great.
