Honeycomb is rather easy to get by, but there is one major drawback: it causes honeybees to attack you. Collecting honeycomb from a bee nest would usually agitate the insects inside, causing them to attack.

You may use a silk touch tool to collect bee nests in your inventory, which might take a long time to achieve early on in the game.
Place a bonfire underneath the nest or hive before harvesting it for the quickest way to get a honeycomb. It will make the bees dizzy and prevent them from attacking the player with inflamed eyes. This method requires smoke to travel through the top of the hive to function and you can get their honeycomb with a pair of shears.
Shears
Honeycomb can only be extracted from filled hives via shears, and the hive must have honey dripping from it for the honeycomb to fall. Honey can also be obtained by placing a bottle on a full beehive.
