Mafia: Definitive Edition Won’t Have Mafia 3’s Repetitive Side-Missions

Mafia: Definitive Edition

Mafia: Definitive Edition won’t feature missions (or side-missions) that feel repetitive and asks the player to do the exact same things over and over again, like in Mafia 3. Players, although they liked the story, were furious over Mafia 3’s repetitiveness. Hangar 13 is doing its best to make Mafia: Definitive Edition more diverse and less repetitive.

Speaking to USGamer, Hangar 13 President and Chief Creative Officer Haden Blackman admitted that the complaints about repetitiveness were one of the “valid criticisms” of the game. This time around, players will find more meaningful missions with less repetition. “Almost all of our emphasis was on the missions for Mafia: Definitive Edition, which again is in the spirit of the original name,” Blackman said.

Hangar 13 is also implementing the appreciated features from Mafia 3 into Mafia: Definitive Edition. Like the diversity of New Bordeaux’s districts. This was something the team drew from the original Mafia. And the same thing’s coming back in the Definitive Edition.

Blackman said, “The art team has been really amazing at trying to produce the most beautiful city that they could.”

One of the features from Mafia 3 that isn’t a part of Mafia: Definitive Edition is the Neighborhood Policing system. You can read more about it here.

Mafia: Definitive Edition will be out for PC on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One on August 28.
