It brings together the top teams from professional leagues around the world to compete on the international stage. The 2023 Worlds promises to be another thrilling installment. Qualified Teams for LoL Worlds 2023

A total of 22 teams will be participating in Worlds 2023. 14 teams have directly qualified for the Main Event, while 8 others will battle through the Play-In stage for a spot in the next round.

  • The Play-In stage will feature:
    • 2 teams from the PCS (Pacific Championship Series)
    • 2 teams from the VCS (Vietnam Championship Series)
    • 1 team from LJL (Japan)
    • 1 team from CBLoL (Brazil)
    • 1 team from LLA (Latin America)
    • 1 team from the Worlds Qualifying Series match between LEC and LCS
  • The Main Event will include:
    • 4 teams from the LPL (China): JD Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, LNG Esports, Weibo Gaming
    • 4 teams from the LCK (Korea): TBD as qualifying is still ongoing
    • 3 teams from the LEC (Europe): TBD as qualifying is still ongoing
    • 3 teams from the LCS (North America): Cloud9, NRG, Team Liquid

JD Gaming is the first team to qualify for Worlds 2023 after their dominant LPL victory this season. They will look to translate domestic success into international glory.

Worlds 2023 will feature a new format divided into multiple stages:

  • Play-In Stage:
    • 8 teams split into 2 groups of 4 teams each
    • Double elimination bracket format
    • Best-of-three matches
    • The top 2 teams from each group will advance to Main Event
  • Main Event – Swiss Stage:
    • 16 teams participate
    • Round-robin format where teams with the same record face off
    • Best-of-one matches, except tiebreakers which are best-of-three
    • After 5 rounds, the top 8 teams with 3 wins will advance to playoffs
  • Main Event – Knockout Stage:
    • Single-elimination bracket playoffs
    • Quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals
    • The finals will crown the 2023 World Champion

Schedule for LoL Worlds 2023

Worlds 2023 will take place in South Korea, utilizing venues in Seoul and Busan. The schedule is:

  • Play-Ins: October 10-15 at LoL Park in Seoul
  • Swiss Stage: October 19-29 at KBS Arena in Seoul & Sajik Arena in Busan
  • Quarterfinals: November 2-5 at Sajik Arena in Busan
  • Semifinals: November 11-12, at the Sajik Indoor Gymnasium in Busan.
  • Worlds Finals: November 19 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul
