Loki Season 3: Showrunner Teases Plans For MCU Show’s Future

Loki Season 3

The second season of Loki has just begun, but it looks like the creative minds are already looking towards the future. But what are the chances that Loki Season 3 will happen? Executive producer Kevin Wright revealed they still have plans for the God of Mischief beyond the second season. However, he also pointed out that the Marvel Cinematic Universe series must find a solution for the current storyline.

Loki Season 2 has been off to a great start, picking up almost immediately after the events in the previous season finale. Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief is presented with a new dilemma in the premiere, and although it looks like things are quickly sorted out, there is still so much at stake. Considering the show’s limited number of episodes, fans have already started wondering what could happen in Loki Season 3.

Is Loki Season 3 Happening?

Kevin Wright is well aware of the anticipation for the MCU show’s future. The Loki showrunner recently spoke to Collider, where he pointed out that the second season is essentially about “closing the book” on the previous season’s storyline.

“It was similar to Season 1 in we wanted to tell this story and tell it well, but even in Season 1, we obviously were thinking about where we were going,” he said. “I would say Season 1 and Season 2 were developed and created as, like, kind of two chapters of the same book. We felt pretty strongly, all of us involved, that Season 2 was about closing that book but that there are many other books on the shelf for this character and for this world.”

Not surprisingly, fans believe that the possibility of those “other books on the shelf” for Loki could mean his story is far from over in the MCU. Depending on how the second season would conclude, it would immediately lead to speculations about Loki Season 3.

In fact, if there are “other books on the shelf,” it opens up the potential of multiple seasons for the Disney+ series.

Is Marvel Already Planning Loki Season 3?

The second season is still in full swing, and the first two episodes have given NO CLUES about what will happen in the finale. On the other hand, Marvel and Disney might already recognize the series’ potential and could choose to renew it for multiple seasons in the future. It’s still too early to tell, but fans hope the franchises will continue to explore Loki’s story in every possible way.

What Could Happen in Loki Season 3?

If Loki Season 3 is eventually confirmed, the series could continue exploring Kang the Conqueror’s story within the MCU. With its connection to the TVA and one character who appears to be allied to Kang (or one of his Variants), Loki Season 3 could reveal more about the villain who is expected to be the new Big Bad in the multiverse.

There is a possibility that the show might choose to focus on the God of Mischief for a change, exploring how his new relationships with Sylvie, Mobius, and the rest of the TVA have affected the character and perhaps changed his perspective on the greater multiverse around him.

Loki Season 2 brings back Tom Hiddleston as the God of Mischief, Owen Wilson as Mobius, and Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie. The second season also introduced Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan as Ouroboros, aka O.B., a TVA engineer set to play a significant role in the series.

For now, Loki Season 3 has not yet been officially announced. Loki Season 2 Episode 2 is titled Breaking Brad and is now streaming on Disney+.
