In the penultimate episode of Loki Season 2, a thrilling moment occurred as a Marvel Comics hero made their much-anticipated debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The introduction marked a significant step in the evolution of the titular character Loki, who has already undergone a transformative journey in the series. Following the explosive events of Episode 4, where the Temporal Loom at the TVA was destroyed, the fifth episode continued to push the storyline forward. It offered unique glimpses into the lives of Loki’s friends before they assumed their roles within the TVA.
In Science/Fiction, Loki regains his time-slipping ability, enabling him to traverse branched timelines and encounter variants of his TVA comrades. Among these variants, Wunmi Mosaku’s Hunter B-15 appeared as a pediatrician named Verity Willis from 2012 in New York. The revelation subtly connects the character to Marvel Comics.
Verity Willis Is Closely Connected to Loki in the Marvel Comics
The introduction of Verity Willis in the MCU resonates with her first appearance in Marvel Comics in Loki: Agent of Asgard #2 in 2014. In the comic book storyline, Verity hails from a family entrusted with the guardianship of the Casket of Ancient Winters, a vital responsibility in Loki’s journey. Loki: Agent of Asgard showcases the transformation of Loki into the God of Stories, a transition that appears to have taken place in Loki Season 2 as well. The narrative also unveiled Loki’s significant partnership with Verity Willis.

In the comics, Verity’s family was responsible for safeguarding the Casket of Ancient Winters. Furthermore, her grandfather possessed Andvaranaut, a magical ring that gave its user the extraordinary ability to see through any deception. As a baby, Verity unintentionally ingested Andvaranaut, causing it to meld with her and granting her the unique power to perceive deceit. The power formed a profound bond between Loki and Verity, as she was the only individual capable of seeing through Loki’s intricate illusions.
Does B-15’s Verity Willis Have Powers?
Verity Willis was certainly a cool addition to Loki Season 2 but it doesn’t look like she has any special abilities. Still, series writer Eric Martin is eager to explore more about the character in the future.
“It’s fun to lace those little crumbs throughout, those little Easter eggs from the comic books,” Martin told GamesRadar. “Whenever we get an opportunity to do that, and obviously, with the timeline and some of our characters, that’s exactly where you can do that. You know, I don’t know where that’ll go. But I love Wunmi and I love B-15. I think she’s like the heart of the TVA, so hopefully she does continue to exist in the MCU as a character. That would be cool.”
Dedicated workers on any timeline.

While the confirmation of Hunter B-15’s variant as Verity Willis in Loki Season 2 is an exciting Easter egg nod to the Marvel Comics character, it may not necessarily represent a direct adaptation of her role. Instead, it appears that Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie has adopted the role that Verity Willis played in Loki’s comic book storyline. Nevertheless, with one episode of Loki season 2 remaining, there is still room for the series to explore whether Hunter B-15 possesses Verity Willis’ lie-detecting powers in the MCU, as some hints have suggested. This intriguing connection to the Marvel Comics source material adds depth to the MCU’s portrayal of Loki and opens up exciting possibilities for the series’ future.
The next episode of Loki Season 2 is set to be the final one for the season. For now, the season finale has not yet been given an official title. However, it is already scheduled for release on November 9, 2023.
