Potential similarities between Cowboy Bebop and Lazarus
Cowboy Bebop is a classic. The music, the stylistic animation, and the memorable storytelling have all contributed to what makes it so good. There are some elements we can expect to see in Lazarus:
- Jazz is indispensable to Cowboy Bebop. The musical essence in Lazarus will be similar as renowned artists Kamasi Washington, Floating Points, and Bonobo will be working together for the Electronic-Jazz musical score in the anime.
- The story is based in the future, 2052. The world-building can be identical to Cowboy Bebop minus the universal aspect. Or maybe with the universal aspect?
- MAPPA is capable of top-tier animation. All the projects Shinichiro Watanabe has worked on have tall characters and the animation is stylistic, distinct, and retro, whether it’s Space Dandy, Cowboy Bebop, or Kids on the Slope. The collaboration of Studio MAPPA and Shinichiro Watanabe might give us a visually remarkable anime reminiscent of the aesthetics of Cowboy Bebop.
The main difference will probably be in the execution of the show. Cowboy Bebop is episodic but not entirely. The standalone episodes were contributing to the overall storyline. Lazarus anime will probably be serial. The episodes will be more active as compared to Cowboy Bebop in terms of progressing the plot.
