The 11-year veteran big man from Canada, Tristan Thompson, had just been signed by one of the top teams in the East, the Chicago Bulls.
He previously played for the Indiana Pacers but played only 4 games there before being waived. Thompson was then picked up by the Bulls for the remainder of the 2021-2022 season. The Bulls released Alfonzo McKinnie before signing Tristan Thompson.

The 6-foot-9 power forward had his best years in the post-LeBron Cleveland Cavaliers.
After LeBron left the Cavs, he was averaging a decent 11.5 points, 2 assists, and 10.1 rebounds a night.
Thompson is a good role player and even sometimes showed flashes of greatness. For his height, he’s a very tenacious rebounder and a good one at that. He averages 9.1 rebounds a game in his career. He is also very agile, allowing him to become a better defender in the paint.
The Chicago Bulls is one of the best teams in the league today, but what they lack is the size and the muscle for the team. Although they have a star Center in Nikola Vucevic, they still need bodies down below to protect the rim.

The All-Star duo of Zach LaVine and DeMar Derozan is arguably one of the best backcourts in the league, but they sacrifice their play with small ball line-ups. It’s effective most of the time, but come playoffs, it’s going to take a huge effect on their performance.
Thompson is actually a great pick-up by the Bulls since he is the type of player they really need.
He’s relatively better than McKinnie, and he can play a huge role as a starting power forward, alongside Vucevic. With a great pass-first point guard in Lonzo, he’ll surely get touches with the ball more often.

“He’s going to bring another championship-level guy where he’s been in these games before,” LaVine said during the All-Star Media Day. “He can help us in these situations.”
Tristan Thompson was also part of the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers who won the championship that year. The greatest comeback in NBA Finals history (after being down 3-1 from the Warriors).
He’s still 30 years old, and Chicago can still get the best from him. Once again, Thompson is in a contender team and is looking to help them to push a championship run.
Tristan Thompson’s averages through his career: 9.1 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 51.8 FG%, 27.8 3P FG%
