Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm ends on HBO: Season 12 release date, episodes and more details

Curb Your Enthusiasm HBO Larry David

HBO is drawing the curtains on its longest running comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm featuring Larry David. The iconic sitcom is all set to end with a final twelfth season which will premiere in 2024. It marks the end of an era for the improv sitcom which has been on the air for nearly 24 years. Here’s what we know so far about the final season of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and what its creator/star Larry David had to say about it.

Final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm

The HBO show is clearly not one of those which follow a rigid narrative or storyline beyond a running season. So, every season or even episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm almost works entirely on its own as long as you know who Larry David is and what he does for a living (in reality as well as the show).

The first season premiered as far back as October 2000 but the show has had an on-off pattern over the years, especially a significant hiatus from 2011 to 2017. However, the producers had given Larry David complete freedom to deliver written episodes whenever he felt like finishing them.

As a result, the sitcom enjoyed a privilege of being a staple offering from HBO without any time or episode constraints. However, the network has announced that Season 12 would be the final one and have even started promoting it with the same tagline and a confirmed release date.

Release date and final words

The final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm will premiere on February 4, 2023, and it will have ten episodes in total. Each new episode will be released every Sunday of the week at 22:00 EST with the final one airing on 7 April. Simultaneously, fans can stream them on Max where all the other existing seasons are available now.

The Seinfeld co-creator did not take the conventional emotional route for his farewell statement about the show. The 76-year-old comedian joked that he can finally let go of the insufferable ‘Larry David’ character that he had been portraying on screen and that he will not be missed.

Cast members for Season 12

Apart from Larry David, the final season is expected to bring back show regulars such as Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, Cheryl Hines, JB Smoove, Richard Lewis, Ted Danson, Vince Vaughn and Tracey Ullman. Curb Your Enthusiasm is best known for cameos from some of the biggest celebrities in the entertainment industry.

Past guest stars have included Ben Stiller, Shaquille O’Neal, Martin Scorsese, Jon Hamm, Hugh Hefner, John McEnroe and Ricky Gervais. For the final season, we can expect similar cameos including the return of Larry David’s Seinfeld gang which includes Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards.
