NBA rising star Kevin Porter Jr.’s career is about to go down following the assault charges he will face. Recently, KPJ found himself in dirty waters after being arrested by the New York Police Department following allegedly beating up his girlfriend, Kyrse Gondrezick. However, previous reports of the basketball player’s past criminal charges and misconduct issues resurface. Here’s a timeline of Porter Jr.’s previous altercations and whatnot.
January 2019
Even before entering the NBA, Kevin Porter Jr. already had personal problems. While he was a freshman at the University of Southern California, KPJ had an undisclosed altercation with the management.

He was suspended for one game due to “misconduct issues.” A few months later, the Trojans guard committed to the 2019 NBA draft, where he was selected 30th overall.
August 2020
Sadly, this will not be the first time Kevin Porter Jr. will be having a legal issue and tie-up with the police. In August 2020, when Porter Jr. was still playing for the Cavaliers, the young NBA star allegedly assaulted a woman in Cleveland by punching her and pulling the victim’s hair.

According to the victim, the NBA player punched him in the face after she and Porter Jr.’s sister were having an argument. He was not charged with a criminal case.
November 2020
A few months later, in November, Kevin Porter Jr. was in the middle of another incident where he was arrested for possessing a loaded gun, which was found out after he was involved in a car accident.

In addition, the rising star was also charged with a minor offense for marijuana use. Fortunately for him, the charges were eventually dropped, but the Cleveland Cavaliers were keeping KPJ on the sidelines.
January 2021
The last straw for the management was when Kevin Porter Jr. had a locker outburst where he reportedly threw food at the then-Cavs GM, Koby Altman. According to reports, KPJ was furious after he noticed Taurean Prince took over his locker.

After this incident, the Cavaliers decided to let him go and traded Kevin to the Houston Rockets. Even Porter Jr. admitted that the Rockets organization saved his life and allowed him to bloom as a star following James Harden’s departure. But that stardom would be short-lived.
2021
A new report is spreading on the internet that Kevin Porter Jr. had another outburst about two seasons ago. The date was not revealed, but it seems it happened sometime in the 2021-2022 season.

According to the NBA and Houston Rockets insider Jackson Gatlin, the Rockets’ star guard had an altercation with a DJ in a club. As a result, there were some damaged properties, including a completely smashed laptop owned by the DJ.
“They were out at a club apparently, and there was a disagreement, I guess, with the DJ in the club, and KPJ took the laptop of said DJ and smashed it on the floor. Just completely destroyed it and started tearing the place up, and the Rockets, they immediately got him out of there.”
September 2023
LOOK: Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested in New York City after being accused of assault and domestic violence.
Porter Jr.’s girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, called 911 at 6:45 AM and reported that the NBA star assaulted her. The call was made from the Millennium Hilton Hotel in New York. Shortly after, the cops responded and arrested KPJ.

What happened?
After an initial investigation, an NYPD spokesperson told ABC News, “Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 26-year-old female sustained a laceration to the right side of her face and complained about neck pain. A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a known individual struck her multiple times upon her body and placed his hands around the neck.”

After the incident, the victim was taken to the hospital. According to reports, she and the assailant, Kevin Porter Jr., got into a heated altercation. The reports also revealed that Gondrezick was upset with the Houston Rockets star after he returned late at night to the hotel they were staying at. As a result, she locked the doors and barred Porter Jr. from entering. But, a few moments later, KPJ requested assistance from the hotel management and eventually unlocked the door. Once he was able to enter the room, KPJ quickly started beating up and strangling Gondrezick. This resulted in the woman’s sustained injuries. Updates on the investigation also revealed that Porter Jr. punched Gondrezick with a closed fist and did not stop until his girlfriend ran to the lobby to get some help. At the time, Gondrezick was already bleeding heavily.
