Kevin Durant’s NBA Return: Will He Be Back Before Playoffs?

Kevin Durant injures ankle during warmups

Kevin Durant, one of the NBA’s most dynamic and talented players, has been sidelined by the Phoenix Suns after a scary ankle injury. As the superteam Suns gear up for the playoffs, fans are eagerly awaiting news of his return. With Durant’s status still up in the air, there are many questions about when he will be back on the court and how he will perform upon his return. In this article, we will take a closer look at Durant’s injury, his road to recovery, and the potential impact of his return on the Suns’ playoff aspirations.

Kevin Durant injures his ankle during warmups

Moments before their matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kevin Durant sprained his ankle in the pregame warmups. Durant was supposed to make his awaited home court debut after joining the Phoenix Suns last month.

The 34-year-old superstar did not play against the Thunder yesterday. After slipping into the floor and apparently rolling his ankle, KD will be undergoing an MRI to further examine his foot.

Updates on Durant’s progress and potential return dates

According to the Phoenix Suns, Durant will be re-evaluated in three weeks. However, there are talks that the 12-time all-star may be out for the remainder of the regular season.

Despite the fear of KD’s absence from the team, there is still a lot of time left for his recovery. The 2023 playoffs will officially kick-in on the second week of April. Thus, if his ankle injury is not serious, he could recover and make it back in time for the postseason. There is no exact time table for his return but we will keep updating this post.

Superteam: Kevin Durant’s effect to the Phoenix Suns

After making his debut on March 1st, Kevin Durant immediately proved that he’s one of the best players in the league. In 3 games, he averages 26.7 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting an efficient 69% on the floor. Moreover, the Suns haven’t lost a game since adding Durant to their roster.

Durant has been riddled by injuries in the latter part of his career. Earlier this year, the Slim Reaper was forced to miss 20 games after a right MCL sprain. He also missed the 2023 All-Star game in which he was voted as a starter.

The 2-time NBA champion is arguably the most lethal scorer in the league. Although he has suffered career-ending injuries in the past, that did not stop him from dominating. The Phoenix Suns are currently 4th in the Western Conference and are on their way to making a successful playoff run. However, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, DeAndre Ayton, and the rest of their team might continue the 2022-2023 season without KD.
