Kanye West Sells Beachfront Malibu Home for $53M | Know What's Inside

Kanye West is now selling his beachfront Malibu home after buying it two years ago for $57 million. However, the rapper has put it on the market for a much lower price of $53 million and let the celebrity realtor Jason Oppenheim of Selling Sunset do the work. So, what’s inside this lavish property? Read on to find out.

What’s Inside Kanye West’s Malibu Home?

Jason Oppenheim told People that Kanye West removed the interiors of his Malibu home, so the asking price only reflects the cost of the new finishes installed.

Originally designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the house features 4,000 square feet of interior and about 1,500 square feet of outdoor area. Knowing the property has been handled by a renowned architect, Oppenheim revealed it’s a privilege to sell it.

Ando has only designed fewer than 20 homes in the U.S., including Jay-Z and Beyonce’s $200 million Malibu home.

“I wanted to have a listing with such architectural pedigree,” he said. In addition to that, the property’s Malibu Road location also makes it “one of the most desirable areas in the world.”

The real estate broker added that the property’s value is “really in its structure.” He also called the place a “unique home for a unique and discerning buyer.”

According to the house’s listing, it’s approximately constructed of 1,200 tons of concrete, 200 tons of steel reinforcement, and 12 huge pylons driven over 60 feet into the sand. AD100 architecture firm Marmol Radziner is the home’s executive architect and general contractor.

The home also features natural light, creatively used throughout the space and is Ando’s signature design. This helps manipulate the warm feeling throughout the house and perfectly blends with its natural surroundings.

In addition, the property boasts an “exceedingly rare architecture” that is considered a masterful work of art, making it more than just a residence.

Oppenheim explained that it would be up to the new buyer to adorn the place with contemporary interiors. As it previously had a very minimalist interior, he wanted to maintain that to let its architecture “speak louder than the finishes.”

Kanye West’s Property in the Middle of the Lawsuit

However, according to TMZ, Kanye West’s Malibu property is in the middle of a lawsuit. Aside from removing its interiors, the controversial personality also removed the house’s windows and electricity.

The house’s former project manager, overseeing its remodeling, sued Kanye after a huge falling out after the latter insisted on ripping out the plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.

Jason Oppenheim also told TMZ that removing interior finishes lets the new owner restore it to their specific standards with modern technology and excellence.

Hence, despite the issues surrounding the place, its location and beachfront features are expected to catch a lot of interest still. It’s also good to note that it’s still formerly owned by one of the most famous, not to mention controversial, personalities in the industry today, making it more interesting.
