Kanye West made a surprising move after apologizing to the Jewish community in a post on Instagram on Tuesday, December 26. With his long history of antisemitic remarks, fans can’t help but react to his statement, which is written in Hebrew, with some casting their doubt if it’s genuine or not.
Kanye West Issues an Apology to Jewish People on Instagram
In his only post on Instagram, Kanye West apologized to the Jewish people for his series of antisemitic remarks, calling it “unintended.”
“I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions,” he wrote, as translated by The Associated Press.
He explained that he didn’t intend to offend or demean anyone, revealing he had deeply regretted the pain he might have caused.

The apology comes less than two weeks after Kanye, who legally changed his name to Ye in 2021, made another antisemitic rant in Las Vegas while promoting his new album, Vultures, which would be out on January 12, 2024. At the time, he made serious allegations against Jewish influence and even compared himself to Jesus Christ and Adolf Hitler.
Jewish Community Reacts to Kanye West’s Apology
The Jewish community can’t help but react to Kanye West’s apology, with the Anti-Defamation League releasing a statement saying it might be a first step toward making amends.
The organization revealed to the AP that the rapper used his huge influence and platform to poison a lot of minds, causing irrevocable damage with his “vicious antisemitism and hate.” But despite that, it saw the apology in Hebrew as the first step on a long journey to make amends with the Jewish community and everyone he had hurt.
Though it knew that action speaks louder than words, his apology seems accepted.
Alternatively, the American Jewish Community appeared to have disliked the former husband of Kim Kardashian’s use of Hebrew.

Aside from calling it bizarre and a possible move to catch people’s attention, it told the AP that posting a Hebrew apology without any translation is inaccessible to most American Jewish people who don’t speak or understand the language.
“To be sure, using Hebrew to communicate with the Jewish community intentionally denies most American Jews— and, consequently, non-Jews—the ability to directly see Kanye’s apology,” it explained.
The AJC also questioned Kanye’s claim to be committed to learning and greater understanding, as his apology declares the pain he might have caused instead of acknowledging the pain he had caused.
Kanye West’s Apology Draws Mixed Reactions from Fans
The Jewish community isn’t the only one who shares their reaction to Kanye West’s apology. It also draws mixed responses from fans, some believing what he says while others question his move.

Whatever the case is, it may be important for Kanye West to apologize for everything he has said about the Jewish people. Although his move is quite questionable for some, his use of the Hebrew language is maybe an effort for him to be understood by the Jews. Only time will tell if he’s since or not, or he may make another antisemitic rant.
