The burning question of the burning hour is where to watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The prequel to the dark fantasy manga Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami made a global sensation when Crunchyroll took the rights to theatrically release the film in different countries. The film became a phenomenon when it broke through with 23 billion in revenue within the first 3 days of its theatrical release in Japan. Recent news is that the film is all set to premiere on a certain streaming service. Read on to know where to watch the film.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Box Office Legacy
- After almost a year of Jujutsu Kaisen 0’s theatrical release, the film has finally stopped with theatre sales. It crossed the legacy of Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 Thrice upon a time to become the highest-earning Japanese film of 2021.
- Only recently, One Piece Red finally overthrew even Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in the top 8 highest-grossing anime films of all time. Jujutsu Kaisen entered Box Office Mojo’s highest-earning films worldwide in 2021, earning the #41 rank.

Worldwide Release
- Over 2,500 theatres homed Jujutsu Kaisen 0 when Crunchyroll combined with Funimation took the rights of the films and distributed them in the North American and Canadian theatres. It opened with an earning of $5.8 million on its opening day.
- It had one of the most unexpected (for the distributors) reactions from India, where it sold over 50,000 tickets just in pre-sale.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Film is The Anime Adaptation of The Manga Titled –
- The film is actually an anime film adaptation of the following Manga ‘Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School’. Surprisingly it was not at all named Jujutsu Kaisen 0, to begin with.
- This prequel manga was the first standalone and Shueisha’s Jump GIGA serialized this work from April 2017 to July. Later Akutami wrote and illustrated Jujutsu Kaisen, the now famous anime series. Shueisha serialized Jujutsu Kaisen in their weekly Shonen Magazine, Shonen Jump in 2018.
Where to Watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0
Crunchyroll in their latest Crunchyroll Expo made some staggering announcements. Crunchyroll has now scheduled very famous anime films which will have their streaming premiere every week starting from September 2022. The Crunchyroll press release mentioned The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Sword of The Stranger, Psycho-Pass films, Code Geass (trilogy + latest Resurrection of Lelouch), and wait for it – Jujutsu Kaisen 0.
One can Watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0 which will stream on Crunchyroll on September 21.
- Toho will also release the film for Home Media, Blu ray and DVD starting September 21, 2022.
- Given that TOHO will distribute JK 0 in Blu-Ray, it is expected other streaming sites will pick up the film soon as well. It’s rights are also owned by Funimation, hence it is highly likely Funimation will start steaming the film soon as well.
Which Other Streaming Sites Will Stream the Film?
- There is no confirmation that the film will be available on Amazon Prime anytime soon, as there is no clearance if it is in their future catalog. Though anime films have lately become pretty quick in making it to all major streaming sites.
- It’s likely Netflix and Amazon Prime will not fall behind, but it is my educated guess that these two streaming giants won’t be having Jujutsu Kaisen 0 very quickly. It is also possible HBO Max, which also has Jujutsu Kaisen, will gain the streaming rights for the film soon too. At this point it’s a streaming race, let’s go!
What Jujutsu Kaisen is About
Jujutsu Kaisen follows the story of Yuji Itadori who lives in a world where people are inhabited by an emanation called Cursed Energy. Normal people are not prone to handling cursed energy, and when enough leaks out collectively, usually a curse is born in physical embodiment.
Jujutsu Sorcerers are those who exorcise these anomalies and put order in society. Itadori becomes host to one of the strongest curses to have ever existed on Earth, Ryomen Sukuna. What follows is his journey into being admitted to Jujutsu High prefectural where he meets new friends and is guided by the world’s strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer as his mentor, Gojo Satoru (Let’s go Gojo san!).

What really pushes one towards watching Jujutsu Kaisen 0 lies in the way it connects Jujutsu Kaisen as a sequel. The film feels like a story that is completely different, with only characters from the anime making appearances. And that is true because the story of 0 was initially all that existed. It was only later that the sequel following Yuji Itadori was born. The film follows Yuta Okkotsu, who similar to Itadori, houses one of the strongest curses ever. Yuta is known to be an overpowered character, similar to the nomination that Gojo Satoru usually receives both in his world and ours.
