Jordan Peele Horror Film ‘Nope’ Secures No. 1 Spot at Box Office

Nope - Jordan Peele Cast

The brilliance of writer-director Jordan Peele strikes again as his new horror flick, Nope, debuted at number one on the box office. Read on to find out more about this incredible feat from Jordan Peele.

Nope manages to secure the number one spot at the box office after an impressive opening weekend

Jordan Peele strikes the box office once again with a new science fiction horror film called Nope. It stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun. And although Kaluuya is a familiar face in Peele’s films, this is the first time Palmer and Yeun are starring in one of Peele’s creations.

Following its premiere last July 22, 2022, the film Nope has already made a name for itself. Currently, it holds the number one spot in the box office as Peele’s Nope rakes in over $44 million USD during its opening weekend.

This further proves that cinephiles or those looking for something different when going to the movies are drawn in by Peele. Of course, this would be expected since Peele has released hits over the years. When he released Get Out in 2017, it debuted at only $33.4 million USD.

So far, there are no misses in any of Peele’s films

However, the audience liked that Peele offered something different for the world of cinema. For the typical movie goer, a $33.4 million USD might not be much for a movie’s opening weekend sales. But if you compare it to the budget it had of only $4.5 million USD, that’s already impressive as is.

Plus, this movie changed the way the general population saw Jordan Peele. After Get Out released, critics and movie goers from all over praised his writing and directing skills. So it’s no surprise that Us also did well in the box office.

And as for Nope, it’s still too early to tell how it will perform in the coming weeks. Compared to the $4.5 million USD and $20 million USD budget for Get Out and Us respectively, Nope cost $68 million USD to make.

Regardless, there’s still time for the movie to gain more traction. But we are hopeful for Nope as critics praised Jordan Peele’s superb writing that will really get the audience thinking. If we learned anything from Peele’s previous films, it’s that there’s more than meets the eye.

Jordan Peele makes sure that audiences will say Nope! throughout the film

Without spoiling too much, Peele’s new horror film includes aliens. But like others have been saying, Nope is not classified as a horror because it includes evil spirits or ghosts. The film tells the story of how two siblings witness an alien invasion and how they go about it.

But according to those who had the chance to watch it already, it remains true to its title. Jordan Peele’s new film will have you saying ‘nope!’ as there are sequences which can literally make someone squirm in their seat. From all the rave reviews Nope has been getting, we’re dying to see what the general public’s reaction will be towards the film.

And if you’re planning on seeing it, leave all your expectations at the door. Nope is unlike Peele’s previous films in a sense that you won’t have a hard time trying to connect the story. From the trailers alone, it seems like Nope is more of a dark humor type of films.

Nonetheless, we’re excited to see Nope for ourselves. It begins a global rollout on August 12, 2022 in theaters worldwide.
