Jokic VS Embiid: Duel Between the Top 2 MVP Candidates (March 14)

March 14, 2022 – Jokic and Embiid, two of the best centers today battled it out in a match between Denver Nuggets and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Jokic and the Nuggets visited the Sixers at their homecourt in Philly (Wells Fargo Center). The Nuggets, which was missing two of its best players (Michael Porter Jr. and Jamal Murray) faced the fantastic duo of James Harden and Joel Embiid.

It was a much-anticipated fight between two of the league MVP frontrunners.

The Sixers lead by as much as 19 points coming into the second half, but Jokic led the Nuggets’ offense and cut the deficit shorter. They took the lead for the first time during the 3rd quarter, 66-63.

It was a very close game going forward. Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey were playing great and took turns in scoring for the Sixers.

But, the Nuggets were consistently hitting shots after shots from behind the arc that put them ahead of the Sixers. More so, Nah’Shon Hyland was on fire in the fourth quarter, hitting four three-pointers in crunch time.

With just a few seconds remaining, the Nuggets lead by only three points (113-110). Georges Niang tried to pull off a hail-mary but he, unfortunately, missed badly. The game ended in favor of the Nuggets, 114-110.

Joel Embiid led the Sixers in scoring, putting up 34 huge points. James Harden almost had a triple-double (24 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists) while Tyrese Maxey had a nice 19-piece.

The winning team’s leader, Nikola Jokic, had a fantastic night and filled up the stat sheet. The Serbian had 22 points, 8 assists, and 13 rebounds. Also, Denver would not take the win without their two unsung heroes – Will Barton and Nah’Shon Hyland. Barton had 20 points while Hyland had 21.

With this win, the Nuggets now have a 41-28 record. They are currently the sixth seed on a loaded western conference. Meanwhile, the Sixers are now 41-26. They’re still a top team in the east, but they’ve gone lower (from 2nd seed to 3rd seed).

Jokic and Embiid are both in MVP talks as they both lead their respective teams toward another deep playoff run.
