This backlash is a result of her nonchalant reply to a netizen’s X (former Twitter) post showing favoritism towards her while throwing other artists under the bus. Jeon Somi allegedly disses YG Artists in a now-deleted Tweet
The Dumb Dumb singer, popular for her unconventional and IJBOL attitude has fallen on the wrong side of K-pop fans for allegedly disrespecting her fellow artists. On December 7, she replied to a Tweet professing love towards her while simultaneously cussing all her fellow YG Artists.

The post was written in the format of a controversial trend where the fan lists various artists with the prefix ‘F*ck’ while writing ‘We Love You’ for their favorite celebrity. It included the names of the YG family including former groups like BIGBANG and 2NE1. Somi’s reply “Yay they like me” did not pass the vibe and started to garner her chain of backlash.
K-pop fans have excused the netizens who posted this controversial Tweet by stating that the user is esteemed to have their opinions and freedom to post them in whatever format they wish. However, many believe that Somi should not entertain such hateful content which can create a negative image of her and her agency The Black Label (a subsidiary of YG Entertainment.)

Somi’s past comments resurface amid backlash
The K-pop idol’s past comment about her fellow YG Artists has resurfaced amid ongoing backlash. In June 2022, the Fast Forward singer sat with Complex for an interview. The segment was particularly focused on the GOAT (greatest of all time) food, artist, music, and more when she was asked who she believes is the GOAT K-pop Legend.

In the answer, Somi presented the name of Teddy Park, the famous producer of YG artists and co-founder of her agency stating that ‘he made’ some of the biggest artists such as BLACKPINK, BIGBANG, and 2NE1.
This choice of words did not sit well with K-pop fans who believed that giving the credit for creating the groups to Teddy Park was a bit too much. He might have produced some of their greatest hits but the group’s credit goes to the artists.
On the other hand, some of the fans have come forward to defend Somi by stating that she was joking as she frequently hangs out with her contemporaries and has a good relationship with them.
