The Fortnite community has been asking Epic to include the Proximity Chat feature in the game for a while now. Now that we are in Chapter 4 Season 1, players are hopeful that this voice chat feature is finally available in the battle royale. What is Proximity Chat?
First things first, let’s talk about what this feature is. If you’ve seen clips of extraction games like Rust, proximity chat is heavily used here. To put it simply, proximity chat allows all players to hear each other if they are close together. Similar to figuring out how far an enemy depends on the volume of their footsteps, proximity chat works like that, too.
- In Call of Duty: Warzone 2, proximity chat has been added for players to utilize. Unfortunately, many players are looking for ways to disable this feature. It has its advantages and makes the gaming experience more realistic. Another pro to this feature is you can interact with enemies and possibly team up with them until the end of a match. Of course, this is considered a violation in the game, but hey, you have to do what you must to survive, right?
- On the other hand, proximity chat isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. While exchanging comms with your teammates, any nearby enemies can eavesdrop on your plans. So if you’re trying to be all tactical and strategic about taking down opponents, they might already be one step ahead of you
Is the feature available in Fortnite?
For players looking forward to this feature in Fortnite, we’ve got bad news for you. Another new season has come with proximity chat not available in Fortnite.
- Players are rallying for this feature in the game after the Impostors mode was released earlier this year. From the name itself, you’d probably assume that it was inspired by Among Us
- Fortnite players were introduced to proximity chat in the Impostors mode. However, the feature never made a comeback after it went into the vault. For now, players will have to settle for the team voice chat feature available in the game. Fingers crossed that they either unvault the Impostors mode or release a similar game mode so we can have proximity chat again
- Right now, it’s unlikely for Epic Games to add this feature to its main modes, such as Zero Build. But we’d like to see it in the game soon as it will provide a different level of entertainment. Players can meet other players, and content creators can find new ways to interact with the community, too!
- While waiting for news on the feature arriving in Fortnite, enjoy the new content in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1! Aside from Geralt of Rivia and an all-new map, there are tons of new mechanics added to the game
