Since its release, Lost Ark has gone from a Korean-only product to one of gaming’s most successful franchises worldwide. After its debut on February 11, Smilegate’s MMOARPG has been a huge hit with Western gamers. On Twitch, it has attracted more than one million viewers in the first week of its debut in the West. Perhaps even more remarkable than the sheer volume of traffic is the fact that it has all come from PCs. Even though there is no Lost Ark console version yet, gamers continue to speculate about the possibility. 🤔
Console versions of Lost Ark aren’t expected this 2022, according to the game’s devs.
A statement on the Lost Ark website states, “Lost Ark is only available on PC.” Yes, PC is the sole platform for this game at this time. It appears that Xbox and PlayStation gamers will have to wait or buy a PC in order to play Lost Ark. Hopefully this will change in the future!
- Even if Lost Ark was launched in Korea in 2019 without a console release, this move makes a lot of sense. No recent titles published by Amazon Games have been released on a gaming console thus yet.
- As of late 2019, Amazon’s own MMORPG, New World, has only been made available for Windows PCs by the end of 2019. There are no plans for a console port of New World at this time from Amazon Games as well.
Smilegate, however, has recently released CrossfireX for the Xbox Series X|S, which is a new title from the company.
In spite of its poor reception, Smilegate has proven that it can make games for consoles. However, it does not appear that Lost Ark will be coming to PS5, PS4, or Xbox One any time soon. One of the most popular games in the world will remain exclusively available for PC gamers.
