The IPL Mega Auction takes place after every 4-5 years. This year the most awaited Mega Auction is going to take place. Everyone is very excited to know the new formation of players.
Date and Venue
IPL 2022 auction is set to take place on February 12 and 13, 2022. It will be held in Bengaluru. A total of 1214 players have registered themselves for the auction. All the 10 franchises are gearing up for exciting bidding wars during the event. There are two new franchises this year Lucknow and Ahmedabad.
Lucknow Franchise
The Lucknow franchise is owned by Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG group. The team recently revealed their name for the tournament- Lucknow Super Giants. Lucknow has picked KL Rahul, the most valuable player, for Rs. 17 crores, Marcus Stoinis, the Hulk, for Rs. 9.2 crore, and Ravi Bishnoi, the mysterious leg spinner, for Rs. 4 crores.
Ahmedabad Franchise
Ahmedabad franchise is owned by CVC Capitals. The franchise is yet to announce its name for the tournament. For the three draft players, the team picked Hardik Pandya, popularly known as Kungfu Pandya, for Rs. 15 crores, Rashid Khan for Rs. 15 crores, and Shubman Gill, the new version of Virat Kohli, for Rs. 8 crores.
Retained Players
As per the BCCI rule, the old 8 franchises were asked to retain a maximum of 4 players in their squads.
