Invincible fans, rejoice! Mark Grayson a.k.a. Invincible will be gracing us with his heroism once again in 2023, as confirmed by Amazon Prime executives.
In an interview of Collider with Vernon Sanders (head of television at Amazon studios), the latter confirmed the release date of Season 2 of Invincible is sometime next year, 2023. Sanders first hinted by saying, “2023 is going to be a great year for people.” Although, he later confirmed that the 2nd season is officially coming next year. The only question left on our minds is which month? We hope it does not come out by the end of the year, do we?
Who will be Invincible’s biggest threat?
After Mark’s father, Omni-Man (Nolan Grayson) left him for dead and fled to an unknown location, Mark was left to become the protector of Earth. The end of the first season saw the return of Allen, the one-eyed alien. It was already confirmed that Allen is not an enemy, but rather a defender of planets the Viltrumites are trying to invade.

Although he is half Viltrumite, Mark still cannot withstand the powers of his father. He may be somewhat Invincible but he is nowhere near the levels of a full-grown Viltrumite. After Omni-Man flew to the sky, it is safe to assume that the elders of Viltrum knew he failed to conquer Earth. That would be easily spread across his race, thus it would result in a bigger threat Mark and the rest of The Guardians of the Globe have to face. That being said, below are all the enemies Invincible might face in Season 2:
Thragg (and the rest of Viltrum)
Perhaps the strongest Viltrumite might be joining in on the fun come the second season. Since he knew Omni-Man was a failure plus understood that Earth has some mighty heroes, it wouldn’t be out of character for Thragg to take this matter into his own hands.
In the comics, Thragg easily defeated Omni-Man without getting a single hit. Yes, he is that strong, even stronger than the supposed strongest man on Earth.

Battle Beast
The battle-hungry Battle Beast beat the whole Guardians of the Globe without even a minor scratch. A dimension traveler known to traverse the universe to find a formidable opponent, Battle Beast sure does like a lot of blood.

His return is still unknown but there surely be a time in the next seasons when he will be coming back to fight a stronger and more experience, Mark Grayson. Would you also love him to see fight Omni-Man?
Invincible’s alternate versions (variants)
Oh, so you thought the MCU was the first come up with the Multiverse? Robert Kirkman’s comic book series also had a multiversal scheme to its universe too.

Alternate versions of Mark were introduced to the series during “The Invincible War” episode in the comics. After Angstrom Levy opened a portal, he manipulated other variants of Invincible to go across the universe and destroy other versions of them that do not agree with their principles. One Invincible is already enough to take over an entire planet, just imagine what a whole bunch of them can do. Additionally, most of them are evil, sinister, and ruthless.

Invincible gets renewed for Seasons 2 and 3
After a successful season 1, Robert Kirkman’s Invincible is getting not just one, but two more seasons. The main cast of the show has already begun recording their lines earlier this year and everything seems to be wrapped up.

Meanwhile, Nolan Grayson, or Omni-Man (voiced by J.K. Simmons) is still out there and could return to Earth anytime soon. Season 1 proved that there is absolutely no one that can come on par with Omni-Man. Although, nobody is that invulnerable if a group of superheroes comes at him all at once. With that, we are sure that the current “Guardians of the Globe” will be returning to Season 2 as well as other side characters. We shall be expecting these characters to resurface in the coming seasons:
- Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson
- Zazie Beetz as Amber Bennett
- Gillian Jacobs as Samantha Eve Wilkins/Atom Eve
- Andrew Rannells as William Clockwell
- Walton Goggins as Cecil Stedman
- Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Sloan/Rex Splode
- Ross Marquand as Rudy Conners, Kursk and Bi-Plane
- Mark Hamill as Art Rosenbaum
- Khary Payton as Markus Grimshaw/Black Samson
- Malese Jow as Kate Cha/Dupli-Kate
- Grey Griffin as Shrinking Rae and Amanda (Monster Girl’s human form)
- Kevin Michael Richardson as Monster Girl/the Mauler Twins
- Seth Rogen as Allen the Alien
- Mahershala Ali as Titan
- Michael Dorn as Battle Beast/Thokk
Aside from the names mentioned, Viltrumites may enter the scene in Season 2 as well as the mysterious Sequids from Mars.
