Andrey Doronichev, Director of Product responsible for Google Stadia, took part in a Reddit question session. He answered user questions regarding free games and the characteristics of the various subscriptions.
Doronichev wanted to underline how Stadia Pro is not at all a “Netflix of video games” as it is rumored in this last period for the web. But, closer to a service like Xbox Live Gold or PS Plus”. Stadia Pro subscribers will get the 4K streaming with HDR, 5.1 audio, exclusive discounts and access to some free games” the Director said during the session.
As far as free games are concerned, these will be distributed every month for Gold service subscribers, starting from Destiny 2. Just like Microsoft and Sony services.
Unlike Gold by subscription, the service Stadia Base, however, does not include any free game on a monthly basis. With the Google Stadia Base service, the user will be able to access and play in 1080p streaming. With this type of subscription, to access the games, you will have to buy them. Except for any other solutions that may be adopted by individual publishers as additional subscriptions.
When asked if there were plans for a system of achievements, Doronichev replied: “Oh yes, achievement … As a lifelong player and a pathological collector, I love achievements! Of course, we will have something similar to other platforms. However, it will not be there immediately upon launch. It will be inserted a little later”.
In short, the new Google platform, despite the conference during E3 2019, and all the information leaked online, appears to be in many respects still unknown.
