Movies today are following the trend of teasing viewers with post-credits scenes. Sometimes, the producers like to add more than one just to keep fans hungrier. Marvel may have been using this formula for quite some time now and it’s not unusual for other franchises to follow suit. A sequel to a spinoff in The Conjuring universe, The Nun II, did just that. The horror film had a surprising post-credit scene and we are here to explain everything about it. Plus, will that scene connect to Conjuring 4?
The Nun II brings back The Conjuringverse’s most evil, vile, and sinister enemy
Five years after Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) semi-defeated Valak the Demon Nun in the Abbey of Saint Carta, the two met again in a French boarding school. The first film showed how Valak possessed Maurice “Frenchie” Theriault (Jonas Bloquet) as it escaped from being completely banished. Because of that, Valak was able to return to spread darkness and chaos across Europe.
Sister Irene, with her experience of fighting with the demon, is sent to France. There, Irene will be facing off with Valak in an intense battle between the devout and the unholy. Interestingly enough, history about sister Irene and Valak will be revealed in The Nun II.
The Nun II Post-Credits Scene Explained
We always knew Sister Irene’s path was somehow connected to The Conjuring’s Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga). The first film forced the viewers into making a theory that Sister Irene may be a younger version of Lorraine. However, The Nun II may have explained why the two clairvoyant characters seem to be aligned with each other.

The Nun II‘s post-credits bring us to the scene featuring the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Ed was talking to Father Gordon (Steve Coulter) on the phone and right there and then the couple knew there was something bad happening. Ed, while on the phone, hints at another possible case with her wife, Lorraine, as he says “Yes, father. How can we help?”.
Is The Nun II connected to The Conjuring 4?
The fourth Conjuring film titled The Conjuring: Last Rites, is revealed to be the final installment to the franchise. With the post-credit scene teasing for a continuation of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s paranormal cases, it’s safe to say The Nun II has something to do with Conjuring 4.
In the movie, it was revealed that Sister Irene is a direct descendant of Saint Lucy. Later in the film, a mysterious relic called the Eyes of St. Lucy would be the Valak’s main target. According to the scriptures, St. Lucy is the patron saint of the blind. But, before her death, she was believed to have the power to see beyond the norm, just like Sister Irene and Lorraine. Moreover, Valak found out that by obtaining the Eyes of St. Lucy, it would become more powerful.
