  • Throughout the awards season, Ford had championed Quan’s performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Quan’s Hollywood career began as a child actor, with his feature film debut opposite Ford in Steven Spielberg’s 1984 adventure film.
  • At the 2023 Oscars, Everything Everywhere All at Once won seven awards, including Best Director. Quan’s co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis also won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.

As Quan took the stage with his castmates and directors to accept the award, he beckoned Ford over and joyfully embraced his former co-star.

Ford wasn’t the sole Oscars attendee who has witnessed Quan’s entire career. As Quan delivered his acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor on Sunday night, the telecast briefly cut to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom director Steven Spielberg, who was beaming in the audience.

When Quan spoke to reporters backstage after his win, he recounted that during a commercial break, he rushed up to Spielberg and was warmly embraced.

  • Quan shared that Spielberg said to him, “Ke, you are now an Oscar-winning actor.” Quan was moved by those words, and he added, “Hearing him say that meant the world to me, and I still cannot believe it. I mean, wow.”

In January, Harrison Ford expressed his joy for Ke Huy Quan’s Oscar nomination, saying to Entertainment Tonight, “I’m so happy for him. He’s a great guy and a wonderful actor. He was when he was a little kid, and he still is. I’m glad. I’m very happy for him.

Ford also spoke to Uproxx before the nominations were announced and said that a nomination for Quan would be well deserved, and he praised his performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once.

The Oscars weren’t their first reunion, obviously

Last September, Quan, and Ford had a heartwarming reunion at Disney’s D23 convention, where they took a photograph together. Quan was attending as a cast member of Loki Season 2, while Ford was promoting Indiana Jones 5.

Quan said that his heart raced as the press asked him if he wanted to reunite with Ford. However, when he approached Ford, he pointed his finger and asked, “Are you Short Round?” and Quan replied, “Yes, Indy.” Ford then gave him a big hug.

In the meantime, Quan and Ford are both scheduled to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Quan taking on an undisclosed role in Loki season 2 and Ford stepping into the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts. This raises the possibility that audiences might see them on screen together once more.

Quan expressed his enthusiasm for the possibility, telling EW, “It would be freakin’ awesome if we get to do one scene together.
