For starters, the Leaf will have to appoint a new Hokage or at least an interim one. The most obvious choice would be Kakashi, as we’ve already seen that it’s quite common for a previous Hokage to take up the mantle again if something happens to the current Hokage.
- While Naruto might be still alive, as far as the people of the Hidden Leaf are concerned, he is dead.
- While Kakashi being a Hokage might be a decent short-term solution, the elders and the higher-ups will soon look into finding the candidate for the 8th Hokage.
- Konohamaru might be a viable candidate in the future, but he definitely lacks the experience and skills required for now.
- With all that considered, only Kakashi or Shikamaru can fill in the role of a Hokage for now.
Political State of the Hidden Leaf
The Hokage’s position is a symbol, but beyond that, there’d be several problems that might plague the political stability of the Hidden Leaf. After the war, the Hidden Leaf was constantly protected by two of the strongest shinobi in the history of the Shinobi world. But now since both Naruto and Sasuke are out of the picture, any foreign entity might try to peer in through the cracks and take control.
- On one side, Naruto’s reputation as the Hero who saved the world unified the Leaf and its relations with the other Hidden Villages and Countries.
- On the other hand, Sasuke played a huge role in preserving the hard-earned peace through his acts across the world during his travels.
- The criminal underworld which laid low due to the threat of Sasuke might try to get back up when they realize he’s no longer protecting the leaf or the world.
Technology and Scientific Ninja Tools
Scientific ninja tools will likely see increased militarization to counter the threats of the future. More shinobi may equip ninja tech weapons if traditional arts seem inadequate. The entire shinobi system might see a change in operations and roles after adapting to the Scientific Ninja Tools’ growth. However, an over-reliance on tech could weaken core shinobi skills over time.
- Similarly, technology would also see a huge boom, provided that the economy remains stable.
- It was already implied that the Hidden Leaf was the most technologically advanced village in the Shinobi World.
- This one advantage could be leveraged to make up for all the other shortcomings during this time of peril.

When Boruto returns from training, he may find some things recognizable, but much will have changed. Back in Naruto Shippuden, there was an interesting dichotomy between Naruto and Sasuke where the former comments on how much the Village has changed but the latter claims that it hasn’t changed at all.
