In India, Aadhar has become the most essential and useful document for pretty much every purpose. In each govt office, they always ask for your Aadhar card for verification.

Today, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has announced the last date to link the PAN card with your Aadhar card latest by 31st March 2022. If you fail to do it by today then it’ll cause some amount of penalty. As per CBDT,  ₹500 is going to be charged if you link your Aadhaar and PAN cards within three months after the March 31 deadline. Steps to link via the portal

  • Firstly, open the taxation e-filing portal- https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/.
  • Then, register on the portal, use the PAN number or the e-mail ID.
  •  Log into the portal by entering your user id, password, and date of birth.
  •  A pop-up window will appear, asking you to link your PAN with Aadhaar.
  •  If the window doesn’t appear, attend ‘Profile Settings’ on the Menu bar and click on ‘Link Aadhaar.’
  •  Information like name, date of birth, and gender will already be mentioned as per the PAN card details
  •  Now, verify the PAN details with those mentioned on Aadhaar.
  •  If there’s some mismatch, you would like to induce the identical corrected in either of the documents.
  •  If the main points match, enter your Aadhaar number and click the “link now” button
  •  At last, a message will inform you that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked to your PAN.

Steps to link via SMS

  • You need to type the subsequent message UIDPAN<12 digit Aadhaar><10 digit PAN>
  •  Send the message to 567678 or 56161 by your registered mobile number.
  •  You will get a confirmation message about linking your Aadhar with PAN.

Linking by visiting nearby PAN service centers

  •  Visit the nearby PAN service center.
  • You will have to fill a form named ‘Annexure-I’ together with a duplicate of the PAN card and Aadhaar card.
  • When Aadhar will be linked with PAN, you will receive a confirmation message on your phone.
