Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty boss guide – How to defeat Zhang Rang
Zhang Rang is by far one of the hardest to deal with bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The boss spawns clones mid-fight to make your life harder than expected. It takes a tad bit of game knowledge and situation handling to deal with this boss properly.
Preparation
Preparation is as much important as the boss fight itself. If you doubt that your build can in any way require improvements. then do so. While getting a full re-spec is harder, it is advised to make use of what you have.
Also, make sure that you have high enough fortitude and morality. Go to the closest flag and defeat foes to gain up to at least 25 morality. In order to gather up high fortitude, make sure to locate all of the flags on the map. One more thing to note, keep your Divine Beast meter full when entering the Zhang Rang boss fight.
Zhang Rang boss fight
Just like any other boss fight, defeating Zhang Rang comes down to understanding the boss’s movements, and mastering parrying/blocking. The hardest part of the fight is locating the real Zhang Rang. He gains buffs for every second his clones are alive. So it is necessary to deal with the clones first.
However, if you wish to find out which of them is the actual boss then there is the good old trick of Souls games. Keep locking on to each of the Zhang Rangs and the one without a health bar above its head is the real one.
Clone movements
The clones of Zhang Rang have the average movesets similar to a swordsman you face in the story. However, they do have two aces up their sleeves. In one of them, they charge up an orb that slowly makes its way toward you. You can easily deflect them with simple timing.
The second move is extremely lethal as it is unblockable in nature. When one of them turns red and moves its blade backward, be ready to parry for your life. They will take time and make a charge to you which can easily be parried.
Other than that, they sometimes use teleportation either to make distance or close in. There are two ends of this teleportation marked by black smoke. There is one thing you need to remember even if you deal with them, beyond mid of the boss fight Zhang Rang will resummon them.
Zhang Rang movements
Zhang Rang on occasion summons an image that has only one purpose. That is to confuse you and take hits on Zhang Rang’s behalf.
Wisps followed by attacks
One of the most prominent moves of Zhang Rang consists of him charging up blue wisps around him. After summoning, he charges you to attack as the wisps thrust themselves toward you. Tornado
When Zhang Rang swings his sword in the air, a tornado of air conjures up around him. Since this cannot be parried, you should make some distance and deal damage with spells or ranged weapons.
Spin attack
Zhang Rang will often jump up in the air to make a spin attack toward you. The best way to deal with it is to perfectly parry when he descends from the air. But if you’re not sure about your skills to do so, it is advised to run away and dodge the attack entirely.
Clone attacks
Usually turning red in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty means an unblockable attack is coming. However, when ti comes to Zhang Rang, he spawns two temporary clones that go up in the air and start harling swords at you.
It is hard to parry these attacks and since both clones do it in rhythm, understanding their moves is necessary.
