Tencent is gearing up to release Honor of Kings Star Break, a new game in the Honor of Kings lineup. The game was initially designed to be a fighter platformer. A new report, however, says the game is being transitioned into a battle royale, giving a direct competition to rival developer NetEase’s Nakara Bladepoint Mobile.

Limited test for the game have already begun. A round of test was announced on May 16 for Android users. Players were selected on a lottery-basis with an edge for long-time Honor of Kings players. For those selected, Tencent sent them a download link for the installation package.

The tests require users to have a WeChat or QQ account. Here’s the announcement for the limited test:

This news comes before Honor of Kings’ global release slated for June 20 this year.

NetEase’s Nakara Bladepoint Mobile, a battle royale, will be released later this year in China with plans to go global soon after. Tencent is confident in its move to take Honor of Kings global with more than $15 billion in revenue from China alone.
